I would assume that it would. I would guess it would have a good effect on prices. I also think there will be a big increase in DR mongers coming too, but most of them will be expreienced. We'll see.
The general feeling with myself and the mongers I know that frequent the DR is this is over blown PR from a new government.
They are stying to close down some of the more overt establishment like MP's and Strip clubs.
So far only two towns have been affected, Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. The north coast remains untouched(Sosua, Puerto Plata and Santiago).
I think it will be a bit of a rough ride for some over the next couple of months but I think things will stay generally the same.
Only if we see they clamping down on the regular bars or the hotel guest policies would I start to get worried. So far this has not happened, if they start harrassing a guy that is walking down the road with a dominican then I am outta there too.
The guy's that are in Sosua right now are reporting all normal, exactly the same.
We will see, I will report back to you guy's if things change over there.
