Open it up, why should I not got to DR on my next trip and should instead got to CR!!

Here's some bad news for those considering traveling to the Dominican Republic....( on top of the dollar being worth half of what it was a year ago )....my own translation of a few key paragraphs from "El Nacional" Santo Domingo , D.R., April 13th, (elnacional.com.do) :

ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES BORDELOS TO BE CLOSED

All centers of prostitucion, including those where dancing and nude women are exhibited, shall be closed by the Public Ministry, announced the Attorney General, Dr. Fransisco Dominguez Brito.

The functionary said the close of these businesses shall not only included massage parlors, but all those who promote prostitution.

According to Domingo Brito, it is not possible for the country to keep selling itself to foreigners as a sexual destination, thus the closing of these types of establishments.

"Absolutely all of them. Without distinction. Boca Chica has been a priority for the Public Ministry. Today, Boca Chica is not what it was five months ago, while there are still dificulties, we shall proceed."

Amongst the closed establishments, according to the Prosecutor, National District, were found drugs, synthetic penises, "erotic chairs" with instructions on how to have sex, as well as S & M handcuffs.

In the National Distric, 102 women and 28 men were arrested in operations that closed 12 massage centers that operated en Gazcue, and the university Zone.

The 102 women arrested were released without charges, while the 28 men were detained and some will subjected to justice.

The operation was realized Thursday night, 9PM, by funtionaries of the Prosecutor, National District, and members of the Directorate for the national Control of Drugs., who had monitored these places for several months.

Among the massage parlors closed were, "Centro de Estetica Omi", "La Reyna Cubana", "Club Cisnes Relax", "Elegant Center" and the "Estefeny Club" as well as nameless clubs in the streets Santiago, Leonor de Ovando, Danae, Cervantes, Hermanos Delgne, Soccorro Sanchez, Independencia, and Dr. Delgado, al in the Gazcue section.

I guess you now realize why I am asking about CR right now. I am going to the DR in two months and will find out what is really happening. It seems to be the general feeling that this is the governments attempt to clean up alot of the sex trade, like the strip joints and massage parlors. There is no way to clean the regular bars with your semi pros floating around...these are my favorites anyhow, had enough hardcores in my bed.

I don't like beaches that much, I kind of like the smelly hot dirty parts of town. I like dumpy hotels and nightlife, lots of it! But girls are the name of the game, you say CR hands down. There are beautiful women in the DR....more here??

Not even close, I went to DR (Santiago, POP and Sosua) a few months ago. I went often before discovering CR. Kind of a nostalgia trip.

To be blunt, if you're talking only about the women, you will realize after you get down there just how silly your question is. In DR, you get only women from DR. In CR you get Dominicanas, plus Ticas, Columbianas, Nicas, Panamanians, and more. Go to Zona Blue in the am and tell me you can get that kind of morning/afternoon experience anywhere in DR.

Add to the women the fact that while it's still not the best, San Jose is relatively cleaned up and the most parts of the DR I was in were smelly and pot-hole ridden with what seemed like an endless supply of people looking to cheat and/or rip you off. Throw in the extreme police and government corruption, you've got to be kidding me!.

I took a friend to CR a month ago who was a loyal DR visitor for decades, he swore he'd never go back, only CR from now on for him- and he's Dominican!!!.

OK, you guy's have convinced me on the quality of the women, can't beat the diversity thing. What about the prices for women, hotels and food?

I find the prices much better in CR for everything. The hotels in DR were the only things I found not to be over-inflated. With the currency situation there and the price gouging going on in alot of the North Coast, I found it pretty ridiculous.

Costa Rica offers far more than the DR as far as women and is actually cheaper in the local scene.Also Costa Rcia offers far more daytime in action with many MP's in all price ranges in San Jose than say the North Coast.I have been to DR once and make my tenth trip to Coasta Rica in a couple of weeks so that pretty well sums up my opinion.Costa Rica has more variety in laltina working women than maybe be anywhere in the World.I can't say that for sure as there are many places I haven't been but that is my guess.Tourist opportunities are far better except for the beaches of DR which are among the best in the caribean.rbc100

Ram...welcome to the board. I have seen you over on ISOC. I have not done any "mongering" in the Dominican. If you read my posts I was there to see one woman in particular. What I could see and from what I have heard about the Dominican, you will not regret coming here to CR. Yes, the beaches are awesome in the Dominican but, since you don't like them you'll love SJ. If you like the dirty grunchy places, you'll love San Jose. I recommend printing out RBC's list of massage parlors.

From what I have read over on ISOC, the prices in CR are slightly higher than in the Dominican. But, of course, everything is negotiable. Welcome..

I looked into your posts and I have seen you on the board, you posted some sweet pictures of a hot honey......oh, I do remember your pics!!
So you think it is worth a shot, I am trying to convince Apostropheman to hit CR with me, who knows?
I am going to read more, as you know research is more than important, it is essential!!! Thanks for the shout out, I am seriously concidering CR, it sounds good!

I made 9 trips to the DR from December 1997 to September 2000.
I had two favorites there, both were sweet and beautiful. Someday
I would like to return and see if I can find them just to see how they are.

That said, trust me when I tell you that the variety and ease in meeting women in Costa Rica will make going there a great decision on your part.

My first trip was to DR (see my report in Trip Reports around the world). I had a blast. Ill let you know how they compare when i arraive for my maiden voyage to CR.

By the way this is why i want to go back to Black Beards Resort at Puerto Plata Domincan Rep.

The only thing is as I am sure you know this, life is hard on these girls and I am not too sure you will like what you discover...the DR is a hard place to live.
Next year, I am going to make a trip to CR, Jamaica(I have friends there, been there over 20 times) and DR, variety is the spice of life. But my mind could be changed, if what I am reading about CR I may be going there more than once a year.

Blackbeards is a one of a kind resort....I love the place!! Have had some of the best times of my life there. Mostly those Jacuzzi parties that seem to spring up most every day. I was there for a week in Feb, there would be 15-20 girls there everyday with good rotation of talent. The girls there know how to take care of a guy...

You won't regret coming. I think one of the other attractions to CR is that most of the action is centralized in about a 5 block radius. You will do DOUBT meet lots of guys from this board no matter when you go down.
You will find girls of all shapes,sizes and colors in CR. Keep on Apostrophe..I know he'll love it.

I saw Blackbeards mentioned above.It is a great place.Girls are available there from around 10 am to close to midnite And the hot tub with a bunch of awesome chicas is not something you can do most places.The beaches across the road are great as well.I will definitely return when the exchange rate gets more favorible.When I was there last May the peso was near 50 to 1 .Rates were 1500 pesos short time and 3000 pesos for all night.The exchange is now about 28 to 1 I think and rates have only come down to 1300 short time and 2500 all night .It isn't nearly such a good value now and San Jose has many more options.rbc100
