Here's some bad news for those considering traveling to the Dominican Republic....( on top of the dollar being worth half of what it was a year ago )....my own translation of a few key paragraphs from "El Nacional" Santo Domingo , D.R., April 13th, (elnacional.com.do) :
ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES BORDELOS TO BE CLOSED
All centers of prostitucion, including those where dancing and nude women are exhibited, shall be closed by the Public Ministry, announced the Attorney General, Dr. Fransisco Dominguez Brito.
The functionary said the close of these businesses shall not only included massage parlors, but all those who promote prostitution.
According to Domingo Brito, it is not possible for the country to keep selling itself to foreigners as a sexual destination, thus the closing of these types of establishments.
"Absolutely all of them. Without distinction. Boca Chica has been a priority for the Public Ministry. Today, Boca Chica is not what it was five months ago, while there are still dificulties, we shall proceed."
Amongst the closed establishments, according to the Prosecutor, National District, were found drugs, synthetic penises, "erotic chairs" with instructions on how to have sex, as well as S & M handcuffs.
In the National Distric, 102 women and 28 men were arrested in operations that closed 12 massage centers that operated en Gazcue, and the university Zone.
The 102 women arrested were released without charges, while the 28 men were detained and some will subjected to justice.
The operation was realized Thursday night, 9PM, by funtionaries of the Prosecutor, National District, and members of the Directorate for the national Control of Drugs., who had monitored these places for several months.
Among the massage parlors closed were, "Centro de Estetica Omi", "La Reyna Cubana", "Club Cisnes Relax", "Elegant Center" and the "Estefeny Club" as well as nameless clubs in the streets Santiago, Leonor de Ovando, Danae, Cervantes, Hermanos Delgne, Soccorro Sanchez, Independencia, and Dr. Delgado, al in the Gazcue section.
