Post subject:  More Mariscar humor

Yesterday I checked out something that was pointed out to me by fellow poster,Cygnus. The shell of the burned-out former restaurant,Mariscar has a bit of humor if you look. Standing very visably on the shell that remains from the fire is the large sign which looks barely scathed. The sign advertises MARLBORO CIGARETTES. How's that for irony.

I peeked inside today and it didn't look TOO bad inside, I would wager they will eventually reopen. I hope so, it was one of my faves.

Anyone know the status fo Chelles. That is the one I'm worried about.Lots of places about to get wood fired roasted chicken in San Jose.Chelles is more of a one of a kind place in San Jose. Many sodas but only one Chelles on the corner in the gulch. Now I did like Mariscar as well but outher places for same food just not same atmosphere.rbc100

Mariscar looks like a lose, the roof is gone and lots of damage, but Chelle's is open and in business, I stopped there the other night. It's such a great place to get some sustenance when you're making that trek from the DR to Presidente or La Gran Via at 5 in the morning. There are always cabbies there, that lends some safety to the area, except for those little shit beggars that are always around there. I just walk fast and shout at them when they really get on my nerves.
