I agree. Mondays are great. I don't even try to play on Fridays and Saturdays. Too many newbies with too much money burning holes in their pockets.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the info. Another question is do you pay the girls in USD or local currency?

I only use Dollars, and think that is the norm.

When a chica says "cien", if I want her, I will counter with 35k. They always at least think about it.
I like Sunday thru Wednesday better than Thur.,Fri.,Sat. I Also have decided to avoid all holidays-ours and theirs.

This has been debated many times here and the usual advice is to negotiate in colones.

I am still in the minority and advise most newbies to negotiate in dollars, why? she says cein, you say $60.00 she says 40000 colones.

If you can instantly figure out she just said $86.00 then by all means negotiate in colones if you can not do the conversion stick to dollars.

Believe me the chica can do the conversion instantly

Depending on my grasp of the local currency rate, I have done both in other countries..but with 100usd = 46,795 colones, I get confused trying to figure if I should round that up or down. :? (of course, one could just memorize that $50 = 23,397.50, and then one could guess that 400000 is wayyy too high) Good to hear that Sundays and Mondays are fine. My original June 2-6 trip has now become May 29-June 6, and it's my cherry trip to CR. Can't freakin wait, but at least I'll get in some "training time" in MX next month 8) .

Again thanks to everyone for being so helpful. This will be my first trip to Costa Rica and am looking forward to it. I was hoping to get some actual fishing in, and hope I can wait til I get there to arrange that activity. Does that make sense, or should I try to arrange it before leaving?
By the way I am planning on being there from Apr 16 til the 22.

Sundays at bm/kl are in my opinion the best days to go for a few reasons
1-less gringos because many leave on sunday
2-There are many girls that only work sunday because they have a regular job during the week.
3-everything else is closed on sunday
