This was bad news...

Today on local morning radio there was the AM crew doing a story on Costa Rica and the DR/BM in particular. Had to do some fast footwork to dodge that bullet when someone asked "wasn't that the place you went?".

There were guys calling in telling the DJ's all about the place. Why can't they keep their mouths shut? Why is it that you find a good thing and go an f@%k it up completely by telling the whole world?

There is one thing telling your buddies but telling a drivetime radio crew is out of order! :x

Uklf1986,
Which show was that on? Neil Boortz?

Mike Bell of "790, The Zone" (sports talk) has been to CR.
Here are some of his reports. Scroll down to Jan. 2001 and Dec. 2001

He also has reports on Vegas, Iceland and others. Pretty funny stuff.

There goes my excuse of going for the cheap dental work or tour of the rain forest.

Why can't people keep their mouths shut?

Next thing you know they will say there is total nudity at the Atlanta Strip Clubs. I forgot... there is. Let them pick on the local strip club scene. I understand there are about 50 strip clubs here in the Atlanta area employing a heck of a lot of women who make a good living off mostly tourists and business visitors and conventioneers. It is a major factor in the local economy, just like the "evil" gambling casinos boost the economy of the areas in which they are located. Only the hard core bible thumpers are upset at the legal activities....and a gringa witch or two.

No matter what else is true the Hotel Del Rey and Blue Marlin bar have been a major player in the tourist dollars flowing to Costa Rica. At least from my pockets.

It really does not surprize me much after observing some of the A Hole Gringos that visit Costa Rica. Remember the guys on this board are a minority compared to the vast amount of visiters to the Gulch area.

So True KC, some of those a-holes don't pay the girls after services rendered, a normally sweet tica gets jaded very quickly from that type of treatment.

I find this interesting that I see the Costa Rica subject popping up more and more in the public eye (some guy from Miami got busted just recently trying to fly to CR to have sex with a minor... I heard about it all over Atlanta).

Only a few months ago (before November of last year) I never even HEARD of CR as being a monger spot... I made all my trips to Europe to enjoy the hobby, ignorant of the fact that there was something much better (and less expensive) in my own neck of the world. I came to find out through my buddy who is an airline mechanic, and due to the employees being able to fly around for free (or almost free), some of his co-workers turned him on to the Del Rey and such. He in turn told me all about it, and that was all she wrote... been there three times since my first trip in early December!!

But my point is, up until recently, I would state off of personal experience that for the most part, CR was a pretty well kept secret, or atleast low on the public eye's radar of common knowledge. I don't live under a rock and I swear that I NEVER heard about this place as being the monger paradise that it is... usually when thinking of South/Central America, the obvious places known are Brazil and some of the Mexican border-cities, but never CR.

I'm just rambling here, but I'm curious if any of the gentlemen living in CR have noticed a significant increase of first-time gringo mongers over the recent months, or have things been pretty consistent with "business-as-usual" over there when looking back over the past few years?
