I apologize for all the questions I've posted but I'd like to be prepared before I go in April. I'm 29 years old and I get carded here in the states to almost all bars I go to. Do I need to carry my drivers license in San Jose to frequent the clubs and bars? I do not want to have to carry my drivers license and risk it getting stolen or lost if I do not have to....

i was just there 7 days and didnt carry any id and had no problems, but word on the streets is to carry a copy of ur passport with you, and leave the original locked in ur room safe.

A photocopy of your passport will probably be fine. Getting carded is becoming much more common these days in the US. I get carded with a gray beard in some places now, which didn't happen a few years ago. There are airports that card everybody to buy a beer, no matter what they look like. You are probably too young to remember the WWII movies with the Gestapo guard saying, "Are your papers in order?" It is beginning to feel like that.

I see K*ds that look like 14 playing in the casinos and drinking. What ID?

make a photo copy of your passport and leave it with someone in the states. when you arrive after check in at the dr , make a copy and one with your stamp. in CR you will not be carded. in the states it is required that everyone has proper ID , these places have to cover there ASS. pura vida
