Just back from trip #2, and it was great, but once again I am having the back in RL blues.

The cure last time was booking my next ticket, and I am starting work on that now.

Sadly, RL won't let me get down there 'til September at the earliest.

The question is, what events might be going on in September that I would want to either avoid or try to attend?

Thanks for your help!

September is absolutely the slowest travel month in the US (summer vacation over, K*ds back to school, etc.) so you should be able to get a great deal on airfare.

It is also a slow month in the CR tourist season (green or low season) rates apply and most hotels will have plenty of room & Chicas will be looking for cash.

Can not think of any Holidays or anything that would interfere with a great trip in September.

Sad, I can't get away for labor day :(

Independence day sounds pretty good though.

Thanks for the info!

September 15 - Independence Day

Not a big deal in CR. The big thing is school bands marching in their town. Last year the Minister of Education banned the wearing of mini-skirts.

Nothing like the 4 of July in the States.

This is a great idea! I've been wanting to get down for a little golf, ......, and on my birthday too. Now, can I get a hand from some of you guys to make it a convincing trip? A few emails from a few golfing buddies would do the trick.

I actually had a mediocre experience because of the Sept. 15 holiday, as related in an earlier trip report. My chica at ZB was far more concerned with making family plans via her cellphone than with giving good service. Even though I visited ZB on Sept. 14, she was terribly preoccupied with family matters.

I really liked the weather in SJO last September. Yes, there was rain, but there wasn't much, and only for a couple hours each day. The result was cleaner urban air after the rains, smaller crowds at the beaches (Pacific) and a generally laid-back feeling throughout the entire trip. I'd return to C.R. during rainy season in a heartbeat.

Yes, the rainy season really isn't half bad, though at its worst it can take up most of the day, say in late October. And most mongers agree prices go down at the retail establishments (BM/KL)

Well, in case anyone besides myself is interested, I've decided on the end of Sep beginning of October, centered around my 40th Birthday, October 3rd. What better place to have a birthday with some bangs!

Sorry I'll be missing out on halloween, but I have a commitment on the 30th I can't miss :(
