I would avoid this like a plague !!! There are documents " YOU " would have to sign that guarentee's finacial support among other things. I think the fine for a false marriage for getting a green card is in the neiborhood of 25K

Marriages of "convenience" use to be a very easy way for a foreigner to get US residency. Years ago the INS started to get tougher and required a very detailed interview process of the couple. The interview would be conducted separately but simultaneously so they could not compare notes on the questions asked. The questioning would be very through and would range from the obvious mundane things of everyday life to the very intimate personal details of their relationship. After 911 I am sure the process has become even more difficult and is very hard to fool the investigators unless you are very well drilled in your story. |

From domestic relations law I concluded the only safe marriage for a guy is to marry a girl who has more money than he has and is earning more money than he is. Prenuptual agreements can always be contested. In the situation where she has more money she would probably be the one insisting on a prenuptual agreement. Tell the chica that if she has the money I am sure she can find a husband. In fact, I know a poor hardworking, good looking, broke buddy who needs a fine wealthy woman to marry.

Pegaking7, My humble advice is to stay clear of this. It is much more difficult than it used to be and they would have to live together and stay married for at least two years just to get permanent residency. The USCIS (formerly known as the INS) can just drop in anytime for a visit. People used to just hange a couple of coathangers up in the home that they said they were sharing and get away with it but post 9/11 you can forget it not to mention the potential criminal situation you'll put yourself in for helping and taking payment fo it. Bombaro posted about scam marriages A guy I work with just took it up the ole muddy, he married a Thai girl, she's everything a guy would ever want. Smart, educated, very pretty, sexual and a pharking ho at heart. He spent so much going to SEA to see her, he gave her family money, he had some pretty good bills getting her over here and taking care of here in a style and fashion she was never accustomed to. He goes out one morning to his friends house, come home an hour later and shes gone, on her way to California with some guy she's been talking with on the net for a month. Scam marriages, Never ever marry, RENT. If they love you, the'll stay with you. Most people from 3rd world countries think all Americans are rich, our streets are paved in gold, our door knobs are big diamonds, we don't work, all we do is go from one mall to another mall. If we see a $10 bill on the side walk we wouldn't even pick it up. Got to shut up Shamas |
