I have been to the Manuel Antonio & Quepos area 2x now so my next adventure in December, I have decided to continue on down the road to the Uvita - Marino Ballena National Park Area I do plan on a visit to this park and a walk out during low tide to the whale's tail. I'm also considering a whale watching tour as well, Anyone with suggestions for restaurants or have taken any day trip tours/adventures in this area, info would be appreciated ? |

Nauyaca Waterfall and depending on the road conditions, come back via the inland route via San Isidro de General. |

Ok Thanks for the info, I mapped it out and it's about 1 hour from my rental. I may consider it on way home as you mentioned via San Isidro route what's the concern on this route washout's from rain ? I also saw on the world wide web, the Uvita waterfall where apparently you can slide down |

Yeah, the concerns would be rain related. I have done this route in the dry season with a Toyota Yaris without problem. December is just after the rainy season so you never know. I would ask a local. Also, depending on your time and interest there are a lot of miradors (lookouts), but the birdwatching (quetzals, colibri, etc) is a bust. PS There is also a steep trail down to the falls, there should be lots of info on the web. |

My trip to Uvita included visiting Marina Bellena National Park/Whale's Tail and Corcovado National Park. I took a group tour by boat from Marina Bellena NP to Corcovado NP. Each way was 1.5 hours on the Pacific Ocean and was able to see many whales, dolphins, sea turtles, booby's (seabird) and frigate birds along the way. Corcovado NP is on the Osa Peninsula and is very remote. Only way into Corcovado is by boat or by foot. No roads into Corcovado NP. Our guide took us on a trail thru the jungle for 1/2 mile and you get up close look at all the insects (including Blue morpho butterflies), birds, land crabs and plants and tree's. The return trip was walking along the pristine beach with scarlet macaw's flying overhead. Once back at Ranger Station and before departing for boat ride back to Uvita, you could hear the howler monkey's very loud howl/groan coming from deep into the jungle....very "Jurassic Park" like. If you like this type of experience of visiting National Parks and seeing nature, I can't recommend this trip enough. It was great! |

Did u stay in Uvita? Did long did it take? I have considered many times taking a bus trip from Quepos but the bus schedules were fairly infrequent. |

Okay I will ask some locals once I arrive about current road conditions, appreciate that intel and my rental car reservation is for a Nissan Versa but it's CR you never know what you'll get upon arrival. Trim for this boat tour to Corcovado NP sounds like a great trip and I'm interested. What was the total tour time, sounds like possibly maybe a whole day? my time in the area is a fairly limited visit from Fri afternoon until Sunday afternoon as my Travel girl is a student. |

Day trip to Corcovado NP from Uvita is a full day excursion. 6:15am - 3:30pm. Don't recall exact price, but think it was $140-$150/person. I used Bahia Adventures and they were good. Do an on-line search of "Uvita Day Trips" and see all of the various day trip options and tour operators. |
