Post subject:  Commentary on Prostitution in AM Costa Rica last Tuesday

I haven't seen any other posts about this, so I thought some of you may be interested. There was a commentary about prostitution in last Tuesday's online edition of AM Costa Rica titled : "Can officials think clearly in considering prostitution?"

They even mentioned us (indirectly):

Quote:
Other operations cloak their services by claiming they are pensions or hotels. In fact, some have agents on the street handing out promotional material to likely looking prospects (i.e. old, fat Gringos).

These operations are so obvious that some North Americans maintain Web sites that list the brothels or massage parlors and rate them for attractiveness of employees, prices and similar.

I guess the cat is out of the bag—but then it never was in the bag, was it?

Viper Lady:
I found the article about the Viper Lady interesting also. Could be No. 2. ( From the discussion about ladies to avoid )

Unfortunately as was shown last year when Canadian TV did an "expose" on sex in CR and used the opening page of the CRS web site the purpose of web sites like this will always be misinterpreted and misunderstood. The sad fact is that the misunderstanding and misinterpretation will be intentional and used as the so called high ground by the moralists.

I read the article. Interesting, sort of, but leaves me wondering just what the author has in mind. If anything. Sounds like he wants to punish the und***ge girls, too. And to say that McDonalds created it's market by advertising, I think he's way off the mark, as far as fast food goes and regarding prostitution too. The 'demand' for cheap, fast food was there, McDonalds just tapped into it. And to say there is no 'demand' for sex without marketting, then I guess Prostitution loses it's place as the 'world's oldest profession' and 'marketting' takes it's place.

The anti-pimping law is a joke, and if I had my way, it would just be regulated to where the social worker in question always got a fair share, more than half at the very least. Hypocricy breeds disrespect for the law, and disrespect for the law seems very high down here, to me.
