Traveling to Jaco for dental work. I always thought Jaco had an airport, but looks like the nearest airport is 66 miles away when flying Sansa from SJO. So I assume it isnt much faster to get to Jaco than an Uber or Taxi? Just thought it would be fun to fly. But still have to get to Jaco from Quepos right?

Yep, if you fly to Quepos you are close to the same distance from Jaco as to the international airport for San Jose. Says it is 88 km which is about 55 miles.

Just keep in mind, SJO to Jaco flight will likely be on a small plane and maybe not a jet....so plan for a bumpy ride.

They also weigh you AND your luggage before you board the plane. Then fly from San Jose directly to the coast and then over water, just in case they have to ditch the plane (which they hardly ever have to do). Think "Mr Toad's Wild Ride". Enjoy your trip, pack some saltine crackers.

If you were going to Quepos / Manuel Antonio to visit then flying is a definite option worth pursuing, especially traveling solo. I have done it a couple of times on Nature Air (now defunct) and it was definitely an experience. First time was in a four or six seat, tiny plane with gull wing doors to enter. I had tee shirts older than the female pilot. And you flew through the mountains, not over them. But flying into Quepos, just to get to Jaco is really going to be more time consuming and probably a lot more expensive.

Yes, I initially thought the airport was near Jaco. I have never flown in a small plane so I thought it would be an experience. The flight isnt much more than a driver, but then probably another hour to get to Jaco.........oh well.

Looking to go in January or February if anyone is interested in a cool wingman.

Remember you are also going to have to pay for a driver from Quepos to Jaco and back. Since it is a similar distance from SJO to Jaco I imagine it would be a similar price.

"saltine crackers" go bad as soon as opened, so put 2-3 MRE's in your backpack with your parachute and it's all good

I'm kind of a preppier, so I carry MRE's in my truck. I can also add a water filter in my bag and maybe some fishing line/hooks. Hopeful for the young female pilot :)
