| Post subject: | Spam Getting Ridiculous |
This is a note to the Admin. The spam on this forum is getting so bad that it is really getting to be unusable. A couple of questions / requests. (1) Can an Ignore function be implemented? (2) I know that the Spammers, when identified are banned but that is usually days after they have already clogged the thread with their BS. Can their posts be deleted once they are identified. (3) Can you implement a MODERATION function for all new users. Maybe review the first 10 or so posts of new REGULAR members before allowing them to be active in the threads. Obviously immediate access if VIP membership is paid. |

Number 3 is an excellent suggestion. I know of another forum that uses this process and it seems to work very well. I think they review a certain number of posts that are not all sent at the same time, i.e. over a period of time, and then give the new member normal posting privileges |

Suggestion 1 has been there since day 1. Others would require significant time from The Admin who hasn't received a dime of my cash. Plus, new users are limited to 30 posts, so the shoe salesman reached his limit in under 20 hours. Less prolific posters sometimes can take a year, so the Add Foe allows each user to control who/what they see. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=52555&p=602895&hilit=foe#p602895 Also, spammers and unpaid members are and have always been excluded from the VIP Lounge, so perhaps a better effort would be more postings there. But I do agree, it would be great if The Admin could eliminate spam from the Internet, then he could turn his attention to spreading world peas and eradicating male pattern baldness. After all, I did pay the previous Admin1 my $99 around 12 years ago. |
