New CR presidente, Rodrigo Chavez, just eliminated the mask mandate in Costa Rica.

(He also eliminated the vaccine mandate for public employees)

(Also, after the swearing in and just before his first Council meeting, local TV Channel 7 was going to attempt an unauthorized broadcast. Chavez's security detail broke the cameras, disconnected the equipment and threw it away. CRHoy asked for a comment, none was given.)

FYI - I went to the AutoMercado in Plaza Mayor this morning and I am eating lunch at Batanga. All of the workers at both places were masked and most of the customers.

In the EEUU the workers wear masks and the customers don’t. I guess it gives the appearance of being hygienic and safe.

I'm always happy when others wear masks. Less chance for me to be exposed to covid. I don't really see a downside to that..

I continue to wear a mask myself, but I had endocarditis and dual heart valve replacement in 2017, pacemaker implant, congestive heart failure, COPD, kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, anemia, arthritis, MGUS, Barrett's esophagus and hypothyroidism. I am overweight and over 60. Each person should consider their own risk. I am fully vaxed and boosted; COVID and Influenza. I temperature check each chica upon arrival and have them shower when they arrive. I don't use a condom. Risk vs Reward, individual responsibility.

I also wear my seatbelt on a plane because they make me.

Well, if you have all that and you’re still alive, COVID won’t have any effect on you. You’re good to go, have no fear of COVID.

I was in the airport yesterday and most were still wearing masks. A few of the Immigration officers were not wearing them and some of the counter workers at American did not have them on. Nobody stopped me or said anything to me about not wearing one. I am a firm believer that you should wear one if you want. The only time I will wear one in the future is if I am not feeling well and need to leave the house. I had my mandatory negative covid test for rear entry.... (I mean Re-Entry) and for that reason, there was no way I planned on wearing one. I did have it in my pocket if needed but I cannot see the value of wearing it in my case.

That's why I put mine on before leaving the house.

BTW, CR courts have upheld the rights of employers, schools and stores to REQUIRE masks be worn in their locations.
