Again, they would be hard to describe. Their attitude was like Prison Guards watching over a chain gang. I don’t remember them as attractive or unattractive. I didn’t interact with them to remember, I just observed.

One thing I noticed was each customer was given a long receipt with each drink order that was delivered. About as long as a 30-item receipt from the grocery store. Maybe somebody could elaborate on that. I got a glance of one and it looked like a break down of taxes and the “svc” (mandatory tip) item.

Maybe Del Rey is owned by CVS now?

What happened to save a tree? They should have a disclaimer that reads, "only 2 trees were destroyed to create this receipt."

You get reading material for the ride home.

(Go digital, no more receipts, email right after you check out)

check this out from ISG thread:

"I went to Taormina on Saturday night and it was packed with many girls. Overall, I still like the rooms and beds at Taormina better and the $10 chica fee. I'm coming back for Halloween weekend and probably will stay at Taormina. Even though I love the Rey and have been going there since 2010 until Covid hit, I just don't like the $22 chica fee. That's a bit too much for me. I hope the Rey survives and stays in business, but they would have to do some upgrade to the rooms or something to justify charging the $22 chica fee and the higher room prices."

Yes, they have a marketing spiel about being internationally famous. It is a grand honor to walk the sacred halls of HDR and you have to pay for being in this Internationally renowned temple.

Angkor Wat ain’t got nothing on HDR!

Always liked going to the Rey to drink and scout things out but I only stayed there once and that was somewhere around 2004. It was a terrible experience. The rooms were overpriced for the quality, even back then. Maintenance and housekeeping was adequate at best. Management would usually only pay lip service to issues. It was incredibly noisy at all hours of the night. You had to walk across the street for an overpriced but tasty breakfast.

On the positive side there was the convenience factor (chica fee notwithstanding) of being able to go downstairs at anytime of the day or night and find multiple women looking to make a buck. Also when I dissed the breakfast, the Sunday brunch, though very high priced was very good.

It doesn't look like they have done any room upgrades since my stay in 2004 based on the photos on the website and I am sure that those pictured are the best rooms available. And they really jacked up the price of the room and the convenience fee. And I don't know what facilities are available for breakfast. I guess Chubbs is close for lunch and dinner if you wanted to stay close.

I will hit the bar as one of my first stops on March 28 when I get to San Jose but I definitely would not stay there.

So, I made a couple more recon trips to the Del Rey last Thursday and Friday. Thursday was excellent and Friday was off the charts. Almost like the old days. The girls seems a lot more like normal ticas looking to feed their keedz and Teramina talent seemed a bit more mercenary. Don't care for the vibe there, at all. Rey vibe a lot more subdued without the casino and machines.
From a reliable source (IF such a thing even exists in the gulch): Teramina owners are Rey owners as well. They will be opening the casino before month's end. I wouldn't bet on that. hahahaha
Down from before: $80 seemed to be going asking price. Had one hottie offer 3hrs for 80.
Stating: 80 with a tip for exemplary service seems to work real good for me. For those pinchi (cheap ass) gringos whining about paying that: up yours. CR is very expensive and they have mouths to feed.
IMHO: the Rey won't last. Way too many locals standing around drinking a beer or two and spending nothing more. The girls are there for one rea$on and one reason only: $$$$. Enjoy it while you can.

My mistake, your Location must be "Perez Zeledon, Minnesota home of possibly thee most beautiful women in the world."

Regardless of that, if the Nuevo Rey fails it will be because tourists fail to come, not the spending rate of "locals". Same as before.

I am an extranjero. You do know what that means, I hope. I live 4 hours away. How in the world does that make me a local?

As usual you run your mouth just for the sake of running it and obviously have no idea how a business functions.

You couldn't pay me to live in the filth and nastiness of centro San Jose. Oh wait, that's where you live, señor local.... I'd prefer MN in the wintertime to the sewer that you live in.

From what I've heard that was one of the struggles that the HDR faced before it closed-- too many locals and not enough tourists. Fights were more common, guests on average didn't spend as much, etc. I sincerely hope that the bar regains some of its former glory as it was really a special place.
