So how bad is it down there right now?

On one hand you have the SL going to 100% capacity and on the other, these new restrictions.

Just trying to get a realistic picture since I’m supposed to be coming down in less than two weeks.

Right now, it is hard to see any effect, especially if you are vaccinated and carry your CDC card. The SL is the only place I know of requiring you to prove vaccination, but that will change quickly. If that is your deal-breaker, stay home.

Today, I went to Biblica, Walmart and a restaurant in Sabana and had no issues.

If you are staying in one of the usual hotels and going to the usual mp's, I think the impact of closing 2 hours earlier will be minimal. Apartments and AirBNB will be worse hit as Ubers will begin getting scarce around 8:30pm. Taxi's will be around to carry chicas home, so no worry there. The early closing may impact strip clubs.

I'm not sure what the Omicron surge is doing to the cost of quarantine insurance.

I do expect the locals to go a bit ape-shit if/when the QR Code is enforced on February 8.

PS: I guess this could effect watching the evening NFL games in a bar.

I am down here right now (since October) and I was down here last spring when the restriction got moved up to 9pm after the cases started rising after Semana Santa. I agree with everything Boyton said…here’s my 2 cents…not much will change if you mostly hit SL, Castillo, Taormina…the thing is, if the restriction is at 10pm…start making plans to leave (if you need to leave) around 9:15-9:30 pm at the latest, because as Boyton said, Ubers can’t drive after 10pm and they get taken up fast and good luck trying to get a Taxi outside of Taormina at 10 pm competing with all the chicas who have their “own” drivers/taxis…you are left with “piratas” to take you back…not ideal…but between the three places and adjusting to go home or where ever a little earlier…there are still a lot of hotties to be had.

A restaurant in Tamarindo ignored the existing restriction this past weekend. They were cited, fined c462,000 and closed for the next 15 days. It was their first offense.

Hi, I was thinking about a first trip to CR from mid to end of January, given mild travel restrictions to enter CR. But now these new restrictions come. Do you think they’re going to have a strong impact on Jaco’s nightlife? Mostly looking to bars in the trip.

The earlier closing times don't really concern me as it just means you have to start a bit earlier.

I just hope that they allow venues to continue to operate at 100% capacity if they restrict entry to vaccinated folks like the Sportsmens is doing. The previous limited capacity setup really made the SL and Taormina less than optimal to visit.

Well I guess I will find out on January 22. And regardless it will still beat freezing my ass off here in Ohio.
