So, in 2018, Costa Rica decriminalized the personal possession and consumption of small amounts of marijuana. Is this something that only the locals actually get away with, while visitors still get phucked with, or is it pretty much okay to smoke there these days? I smoke, occasionally, at home. Can I smoke in CR now and not get in trouble? Last question is, with it being decriminalized, are there head shops around where one can purchase pipes, bongs, etc.? I know I wouldn't have trouble finding weed itself, but I think it's still illegal to bring it, and any accessories, into the country, so I would prefer to buy them there. |

I googled san jose costa rica head shop and found Mr. Rasta located in the San Pedro Mall. They have a Facebook page, website link wanted me to install a browser addon-I didn't do that. Here is their Facebook page. https://business.facebook.com/mrrastacostarica/ Looks like there are a couple in the mall, and probably more around town. I would guess any tobacco/cigar shop may have something. I can't speak to the other questions. |

A few headshops around with vaporizers and such, and lots of stores that sell other stuff (like incense) that also sell lower key stuff like pipes, grinders, papers. If you're a gringo definitely don't smoke in the street because it will make you a target, though if you hang out with a girl she might without a second thought. And if you have Spanish and balls and cash enough to calmly offer the police $50-100 when they hint for it then smoke away. |

Mall San Pedro has a few shops in there that have what you are looking for, plus a good number of ladies that if you are not shy you just might make a date with one or two. |
