Post subject:  What a load of bull.
The bull fights in Zapote have been cancelled again this year, not because of health concerns but because none of the TV outlets submitted a bid to broadcast them. The television revenue was essential to holding the fiestas. In other words, nobody gave a shit. TV stations have said they are looking at broadcasting fights from smaller town (with lower fees?).

Bull fighting here is different from other countries in that the bulls aren't wounded or killed. Ticos on the other hand are routinely tossed and trampled.

So, this year
No light parade
No bull fights
** I haven't read anything about the Horse Parade or the Palmares music festival, but I doubt these will happen either. That just leaves banging putas for entertainment. Happy Hookerdays!

I was in SL 5-6 years ago having dinner and I could not believe what I was seeing on TV. 40-50 ticos and a few ticas were in the bull ring running around antagonizing and daring the big bull in the ring with them. As mentioned above, people were getting tossed around like rag dolls, trampled and gored. When one of them got hurt/injured, they would go to commercial break, then come back for some more of the same. F'n crazy.

Th festival in Palmares is still scheduled to happen and Teletica will be broadcast the bullfights from Christmas Day until January 2. It's worth a watch if you are in CR.

I heard that it was canceled because of bulls getting their feelings hurt.
