My advice if the rule is implemented is don’t schedule your flight back to the US on a Monday. Most testing facilities are much more likely to be open Monday-Saturday. Sunday tests can be found, but much easier other days.

SL and Castillo both have someone come in Monday-Saturday for testing. Both have very capable front desks and could find a way to get it done on Sunday. But it will probably involve paying a driver or taxi to take you some place, taking an hour of your time instead of 5 minutes.

Clinica Biblica.
c2000 Uber from the new gulch ($3). (its a hospital with the lab on site. it never closes)
Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
English speaking staff.
Book appointments on line or just walk in.
Results in 2 hours by email or hang out at the Cafe Britt inside and have coffee, snack, meal then get printed copy. (Monicas is also just a short walk away)
Cost c19,000 ($30)
c2000 back to the new gulch ($3)
Cost all in, 2 Ubers, test, door to door in 2 hours or less = c34,000 ($54). add $4 if you order a Cappuccino Grande.

no worries, competitive pricing.

“New Gulch”? What is the “new gulch” and what was the “old gulch”?

By "old gulch" I was referring to the Gringo Gulch. This was the common term for the area encompassing the Hotel del Rey, Key Largo, Horseshoe Casino, New York Bar, Nashville South, etc. All of these are gone. By "new gulch" I mean the area encompassing the Hotel La Amistad, Spurtsmens, Castillo, Taormina, Little Havana, VIPs.

Biblica is about a c2000 fare from any of the location in the "new gulch". I lived there for three years and went to Biblica monthly to fill perscriptions.

CDC has published the regulation and thankfully the verbiage is ONE DAY as opposed to 24 hours. Should make things a bit easier to comply. I tried to copy the full order from the CDC web site but the PDF was password protected and wouldn't permit copying text or converting the document.

The essence of the order says that anyone over two years of age must have either:

(1) Present a valid viral test result (doesn't specify PCR or Antigen) for Covid 19 taken one Calendar day before departing to the US, or

(2) A letter from a doctor stating that you have recovered from Covid 19 and proof of a positive viral test for Covid 19 taken within the last 90 days. I am assuming that the test would have to be dated before the doctor's letter.

You can get tested right at the airport - POP or STI - and receive results in an hour.

STI is an unfortunate yet hilarious name for an airport in the DR. :)

Thanks Boynton Great Info

Great tip Boynton. Went there yesterday and got the test. Had the negative test results emailed to me in an hour. The test location in the parking garage across from Clinica Biblica. Just take the elevator to the 6th floor of the garage and it is out in the closed off parking area. Take a number from the machine. Scan the QR code on your phone and fill out the form or do it in advance from the link provided above. Wait for your number to be called and they take your passport info and payment by cash or card. Then over to a room across fron the elevator for the nasal cavity swab. You can also do it in the drive through on the 6th floor which is the way we bagan the process, but it was taking a while so we sent the cab on its way and walked around to the walk up area.

I would be interested to hear if it is even worth it to go with all these COVID next day tests or not. Has anybody done it? Is it a big hassle or about the same? And I mean the whole process from test to getting on the plane.

to me it doesn't seem like a big deal other than spending extra hour or two before getting to the airport and about $50 bucks? Why not? not a big deal for me at the least.

Depends on how much you like beating your own meat vs actual sex with a warm, wet, tight vagina.

I had to edit for accuracy.

But, I don’t go to CR for that. I go for the scamming, mendacity, counterfeit affections and to sharpen my wits.

Then the wit sharpening isn't working, perhaps you should try Tijuana.

PS, Edited for accuracy.
