CR Mongers,
Are there any covid testing facilities in/near Gringo Gulch or nearby areas where one can either walk to from SL or take a cab?
And any idea how much the RT PCR tests cost and how long they usually take to send the results?

Here is the link:

This is the lab. There are dozens of locations. I do not know which location comes to HC. This was on my hardcopy in August.

The quickest I found for PCR tests was 24 hour turnaround. That was the outfit that comes to the SL. Probably same as comes to Castillo

There is also testing available at SJO airport. Would imagine the SJO airport website has all of the details.

Keep in mind that most of these outfits do not test on holidays or weekend. The airport is 24-7 which was where I had to go last trip because of a Monday departure. It was quick and efficient.

He was asking about testing for exit, not entry. And PCR tests are not 2 or 3 hours.

I had my PCR test at Sportsmans, the lab doing the tests gave a 24 hour turnaround, where others I checked with were 48 hours for PCR test. That worked for my 72 hour window to fly back to Canada. But I would opt for the earliest possible within the 72 hour window to give you a possible day for a second test if something goes wrong with the first one. Say it got delayed for some reason or other.

Added.. I checked the lab link to the lab with a link in a previous post. They have a 24 hour turnaround on PCR tests within greater San Jose. And they have locations around the city.

I took my test in Heredia 3 days before flight since I was staying there before I departed. They charged me 25,000 colones and I received my results the same day. It wasn’t crowded and I made my appointment online.

https://labjensu.com/ - They we’re on the embassy’s recommended list of providers. Granted, the Heredia office is a bit of a hike, I believe that the have and office near the embassy which is a bit closer. I figure that the low cost of the test will make up for a cab or Uber ride. There was no issue with my test results when I checked in for the flight.

In a prior trip, I was tested at CIMA in Escazu and was charged $85.

If you can spare the time, I would recommend this provider.

Clinica Biblica close to the Centro charges $37, same day. SL charges $75.
