Plus if you are in CR and enjoying the amenities and you are unvaxed, then you truly are jeopardizing the health of the young lady and all who come in contact with her. I think the leaves are changing colors up in New England because there is always leaf peeping for those that don't get poked. There is a slogan...."If you want to poke then you got to get poked".

Sorry for your losses.

Personally I still advise getting vaccinated (as many of us are), given the odds between dying of Covid and getting a blood clot aren't remotely comparable.

By the way, natural immunity from having Covid before doesn't mean squat.

I know a lot of folks are hesitant to get the vaccine for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending upon your point of view, I see the vaccination requirement for international travel becoming the norm, not the exception. The Dominican Republic has already announced soon to be implemented vaccination and testing requirements for residents as well as tourists yo enter most public places. Sounds very similar to what Costa Rica is going to require.

As far as I know Colombia hasn't announced any pending rules but I wouldn't be surprised to see something down the road.

And if you are thinking about traveling to Asia, I can almost guarantee you are going to have to be vaxed, at least for Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, China, Indonesia and probably most other countries.

Since international travel is a very high priority for my retirement years, I have gotten the jabs.

I wish everyone good luck and safe travels.

I think it is a very good point that if you are not vaccinated your international travel options will very soon be close to zero. Foreign governments really don’t care about your right not to be vaccinated. They care about protecting their citizens.

If you have made the decision to not be vaccinated, get your travel in now. Your mongering options will soon be the US escort market. That should scare anyone enough to get jabbed.

I've heard that natural immunity also wears off over time (6 months?).

I had my booster last week. The VA called and offered it no medical questions asked. Felt about the same as the first two afterwards (minimal side effects) but tired lethargic it seems longer which isn't a bad thing means my body is developing protection.

This week or next is the flu shot which I just saw an article where it helps lessen CV19 complications and hospitalization; interesting.

Enjoy your Staycation. I hear Yellowstone National Park is nice. Geysers for Geezers

Now! Dat Der is funny! Just in case you didn’t know. CR is not the only place to play. I am already making plans for MDE. I’m not mad. Although, I am sure this requirement will cause the tourist industry in CR to suffer greatly. Of course I could be wrong.

Look at it this way. If I don’t go to CR, you have more choices. Have fun, and stay safe bro.

I'm well aware other are other locations, I am also in no way pro mandate. However, I also have learned the lesson of King Canute ordering the tide to stop coming in. In case you haven't heard, the tourist industry in CR has already suffered greatly. That didn't slow the mandate here and will not stop it in other locations. That said, you will be able to Live Free (just don't leave your front porch).

Coming December 1
You will need to show a health pass (QR Code) proving completed vaccination to enter selected public places, including hotels, casinos, bars & restaurants.

Well, damn! I will have to find another country to play in. I wonder how many others will be like me?

Or simply just get vaccinated. A good friend of mine just died of Covid. Unvaccinated. So I had to say this. No offense intended.

Thanks! I’m sure you all mean well. However, if “stay on the porch” is what I have to do. I will.

I’m extremely glad you are all doing well. I have gleaned much wisdom, and had many laughs reading your prose over the years. Be safe and have fun.

PS. Fascistbook censoring me - I expect. CRT? I never expected it. However, I’m sure you have your reasons.

This from the Tico Times today. https://ticotimes.net/2021/10/13/costa- ... 19-vaccine

They still haven’t determined what the policy with be for U.S. tourists ( see the *** paragraph below)

Starting December 1, 2021, Costa Rica will require the Covid-19 vaccine in order to enter most commercial centers and to participate in many public activities.

Establishments requiring vaccination will include: Restaurants, bars, casinos, commercial centers, museums, gyms, hotels, adventure tourism, theaters, sites of worship and sporting events:

Essential services (e.g. supermarkets, pharmacies) are not included in the nationwide vaccine mandate.

As Costa Rica begins mandating the Covid-19 vaccine, it will ease capacity restrictions at most businesses and will begin allowing more mass events with in-person attendance, including concerts and sporting events.

“We have to give time for the people who remain to get their two vaccines,” said President Carlos Alvarado. “As of December 1, there will be no excuse.”

Vaccine status will be verified via a digital form or mobile-phone application that will be made available in November. The QR code will not require an ongoing internet connection, and it can also be printed.

Costa Ricans who got vaccinated abroad can submit a sworn declaration to the Health Ministry in order to receive their QR code. Ch*ldren under 12 years old will not need a vaccine to enter businesses, though that may change at a later date if shots are authorized for that population.

******While authorities didn’t announce how U.S. tourists will be able to demonstrate their vaccination status, Costa Rica’s form will be similar to the European Union’s Digital COVID Certificate. This will permit Costa Rica to easily validate the vaccination status of visitors from the EU*******

As a reminder: As of Friday, October 15, all public-sector employees in Costa Rica will be required to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Private employers can also obligate their employees to be vaccinated.

About 82% of all Costa Ricans ages 12 and older have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, per the latest figures from the Social Security Fund (CCSS).

Where to get a Covid vaccine in Costa Rica

Vaccination locations and times are available on the CCSS website at http://www.ccss.sa.cr/vacunacion.

All citizens and residents who are adults (18+) or who are teenagers (12+) with risk factors are eligible for the vaccine. Documented migrants are also eligible. Undocumented migrants (e.g. perpetual tourists) can receive a vaccine until Thursday, October 14, at CCSS sites. Click here for a list of Covid-19 vaccination sites in Costa Rica.

The POLICY is not in doubt, only the METHOD that US Tourists will use to prove they are vaccinated. EU Tourists will already have a compatible method via the EU Digital Covid Certificate. Don't fool yourself, they full intend to require all people entering a public place to be vaccinated. The only places exempt will be Supermarkets and Pharmacies. Read the stories in CR Hoy or La Nacion. If you ain't vaccinated, you will be trying to pick up Chicas at Fresh Market.

Yeah, but have you seen some of the Chicas at the fresh market in Escalante?

I feel you are wrong about vax mandates hurting the Costa Rican tourist economy. If anything, I think more pro-vax travelers, looking for safer places to visit, will be choosing countries that institute rules such as Costa Rica.

I am all in favor of the new an upcoming rules. I'm also hoping that my estimate is correct that this coming March, the country will have pretty much reached herd immunity and be back close to normal. Even just an 11:00 curfew sounds good, compared to what I read they are doing now.

CR has implemented a different dosing schedule than used in the US. They are waiting 8 weeks between doses. There is solid scientific evidence that this produces a stronger antibody response.

However, if you haven’t already gotten your first dose you will not make it by December 1. I’m wondering how many chicas at our favorite establishments might get caught by this and be unable to enter and work right before Christmas.

I'm not sure where you're getting your info, I just got mine today, 10/20 and am scheduled for the second one Nov 10. I know many people who got the vax in the last month and none were required to wait that long.

It's possible that in the earlier days when CR may have not had a large amount of doses that was in effect, but based on my experience and a 1/2 dozen others in the last month or so, everyone was scheduled 3 to 4 weeks to get the second dose.

Same with my hovia who got the J&J one shot in the US with me in May. She now has to go through the full regimen with Pfizer. She starts her hospital internship in January and they would not recognize the US vaccination for the hospital work. She got her first shot last Saturday and her 2nd shot is scheduled for mid-December.
