I'm surprised there's not more talk of the curfew, which seems to be a real downer for visitors... Next trip is in December. Any chance it'll be lifted before then? Other than getting the info here, where would I find out about potential changes to the curfew? |

Typically the CR government announces restrictions only a few days before implementing them. Restrictions are in reaction to current cases and importantly hospitalizations. Currently cases in CR are trending down. Down 51% in previous two weeks. Hospitalizations and ICU numbers are also down, but not as much. Number of cases is a leading indicator, hospitalizations and ICU should follow. With climbing vaccination rates, 70% in CR have received their first dose, this would be expected to continue. But nothing is certain in this pandemic. So, no way to tell for sure what restrictions will be in December. The English language newspapers usually cover announced changes to restrictions. https://ticotimes.net/ and https://qcostarica.com/ they both have search functions. If you want up to date information from the source https://sites.google.com/presidencia.go ... ecimientos https://sites.google.com/presidencia.go ... -sanitaria These announcements from the office of the President are of course in Spanish. Google translate does a reasonable job, but some text is contained in picture files that do not translate. And the term curfew is used a lot, but it is not a true curfew. Only restrictions on business operating hours and driving your personal car. People can be out if they are not violating those specific restrictions. Chicas can stay past 9:00, they just have to take an official taxi home. There is also a long list of exemptions that I know some creative people have found ways to use to get around restrictions. |

It looks like restrictions will be at 11pm in December with easing of capacity restrictions. But that is with a requirement to prove vaccination to enter hotels, restaurants, shops… Basically if you are not vaccinated, don’t come to Costa Rica. https://qcostarica.com/as-of-december-1 ... osta-rica/ |
