Just an FYI appears that 6 guys over the past few days have tested positive for COVID 19 staying at the Castillo. They are going to quarantine now.

I know that a bunch of guys don't buy the insurance if they have been vaccinated but this is a real reason to pay for it.

None of the guys seems to be symptomatic.

I was there about 10 days ago and ended up having to come back early so might have dodged a bullet. I tested negative but only stayed a few days. I do have some unusual Sinus issues and will get retested again tomorrow here just to be sure.

Just a word to the wise.

Thanks for the post! I was there in August and told no one had ever tested positive at Castillo. I have air and hotel reservations to stay there again in November. I am curious if those who tested positive were put in the Amistad.

Brothers staying at the Castillo please keep us posted.

Thanks for the info, may have to re-think my trip. Buying the insurance, but can't afford to spend 14 days under house arrest, especially without chicas. Have to be back to work.
Maybe this is the more contagious Delta variant. Glad those guys are asymptomatic.

Eleon Musk had four tests done in rapid succession. Results were. Pösitive, Negative, Positive, Negative. The inventor of the procedure says it is useles for Covid. If they repeat the test someplace, I bet they will be negative.

I'm wondering where they ended up quarantining. I don't think Matt's dogs want any company up @ the Amistad

That has absolutely no relevance to the 6 tourists going into quarantine, racking up expenses and disrupting schedules. It’s a good thing those 6 didn’t go to the SL, Taormina, or Monica’s. Otherwise there could be others in the same situation when they try to return to the US.

They probably made the rounds at the Tao and Sl. This could turn out to be the ants at the picnic.
I wonder if all the hairy legged socks and Birkenstock ecotourists filling the planes realize the implications of this.

And in unrelated CR news,
1. This past weekend, the driving restrictions were lifted but bars were still subject to occupancy limits and early closures. Surprisingly, the po-po had to intervene at 120 clandestine parties. Reports are that some of the attendees were not wearing masks.

2. Hospital San Juan de Dios is full up again and has to refer emergency cases elsewhere.

3. The Boy Wonder is outed as a switch hitter ... Holy Butt Plugs Batman!

Ok, the last one wasn't really a surprise.

Looking ahead, 15-Sepember is the 200th anniversary of CR independence. Probably won't be any parties then either.

Just talked to Matt and let him know this had made it on to CRT. He's unable to access his account and asked me to post this. He will respond when he is able to get on here. There was a positive test Wednesday and he got retested Thursday and was still positive. There was a positive test also on Saturday. Someone else had brought a self test with him and tested himself Saturday and it tested positive. He is getting PCR lab tested today. The first two have been relocated to the Amistad and the rooms they were in at Castillo are being professionally cleaned. There is no one else at Amistad (employees, dogs, etc) so they have it to themselves. I don't know how the quarantine is monitored. I guess food gets delivered in. They do not have symptoms but can't leave until they get a negative test to show the airport officials. Matt said to be proactive he was stopping the unescorted girls from coming in the Castillo like before.

The PCR test is very accurate. There are very few false positives. The antigen test a bit less accurate.

But these guys have it. Having 5 or 6 guys come test positive after having had lots of contacts in common is virtually 100% certain. You don't have 100's of tests come back negative and then 6 in a row positive without something real going on. And I am guessing that they know exactly where they probably contacted it.

I want to correct the original post and add on the ground comments. There are only 2 known positive cases as of yesterday not 6. I know this because I am the 1st. I have had both Pfizer Vaccinations. The information in the media about how few fully vaccinated people are infected with Delta Variant is misleading as they are only including the seriously ill. Neither I nor the other person have ANY symptoms. We both found out when we received the test needed to re enter the USA. Further reading of information is that if fully vaccinated the symptoms are really evident and most are extremely Mild. I believe I have tracked it back to 1 girl who was sick 2 days after I met her. Since it takes longer than 2 days from exposure for any symptoms it makes sense. She later took the test after I told her I was positive and is in quarantine for 15 days. My order was only 10 days since I had both vaccinations. I believe I was exposed on my 4th day (I found out day 9) but each day at both Sportsman and Taramina before and after exposure my temperature was taken and normal. I am taking my temperature daily and no fever.
As far as how Hotel Castillo is handling it I am very impressed. I am on day 6 of testing positive and I receive a call from Matt every morning and at least 1 or 2 more times each day asking if I need anything. He has told me to message him a list of what I need and checks to make sure I have ordered my meals and if not, he takes the order. He personally has gone to the store to pick up items I need. I stayed at Castillo in my room until my reservation ended because they were completely booked for the days after. I am now at Amistad and anything I need or want (within reason) has been delivered to me. The attitude of the entire staff has been fantastic. I receive what’s app message from several asking if I am ok and if they can get me anything. I am getting phone calls from staff asking if I am ready to order food. I also notified each Chica so they could be aware, and many send me message as well.
I almost did not buy the insurance, but I figured for less than $100 why not be covered and I am very glad I did. The other person did not buy it. This is my 3rd trip since end of April, and I still plan on returning in November. With the vaccine chances of being sick is very low (BREAK THROUGH CASES) and the inconvenience has been worth it to me. My 1st trip here in Jan of 2015 I caught the flu and was sick for 2 weeks immediately after I returned home. This is nothing compared to that!!
Pura Vida

Thanks for the update. I’m heading to castillo on Friday, This is my fourth trip this year and everything has been smooth. I was kinda on the fence about buying the insurance since I’ve already been vaccinated. I’m getting it for sure now. I spoke with Darren about this a trip or two ago and he thought it would be okay to stay at Amistad of someone tested positive but they weren’t sure about it.
Again thanks for letting us all know what’s going on
