During our last trip last week both BamaJeff and I noticed that many of these girls are now asking for $100 and adding the words "for an hour". I was in CR back in October/November and didn't hear that time limit followed the by the price. Has anyone else noticed this too? It looks like the joy ride is getting worse over time... |

The whole problem is far to many uninformed people are paying the asking price. We really need to make the effort as a group to spead the word and start a gringo movement to keep prices down.My opening offer of 15000 never seems to get a favorable response especially at night.rbc100 |

I have a very simple response. "NO!" I usually offer up 25-30000 colones, around 60 bucks with a propina if everyting is good. |

I have alot of success brining a little levity to the situation.... I do speak pretty good Spanish, which obviously helps. I basically say: "OK, are you ready to play a game?" of course she says yes.... "I'm gonna offer you $50, you will respond & tell me you cost $100, we will negotiate, make a bunch of hand signals, and meet somewhere in the middle" Most of the time, this type of playful bantering will land you a hottie for $70 bucks. |

RBC is right. I don't know how this would be done but the word needs to spread. Of course it is probably a losing battle. If I were down here on vacation, made good money in the States, I probably wouldn't negotiate that hard either. Let me ask, are these girls getting this price most of the time? If so there must be a good number of chicas making $400-$500 per night. |

When I at the BM in about 45 minutes this guy I met at the bar took 2 chicas up to his room. He didn't speak any spanish and I didn't hear him negotiate at all. We were chatting, he sees one chica and of they go. Came back down, his drink is still there, and was telling me it wasn't that great, she was all pierced and he didn't like it I guess. Nice young hottie though. Then he sees another one, long black hair, very thin, a real stunner. He is chatting with me while she is waiting there for him to finish his drink. He goes comes back down, said it was great, he was giving me tips: "Its all about the money and treating them nice". Seems to me he was paying 100 a pop. |

It seems to me from my last few trips that the BM is pretty much a lost cause. I like to go there to window shop, maybe try a little bargain shopping (often unsuccessfully) and mainly hang out with friends and shoot the shit. Sure there are a lot of CRT'ers around there. But there are far more who aren't. How many times have you gone up to a group timidly asking "CRT ![]() The good news is that those same newbies who ignorantly pay the asking price at the BM and have screwed up the market there, for the most part have also never heard of many of the other places in SJ, let alone dare to set foot outside the DR. Sure the word on ZB or NF may slip out. But, hopefully those guys can only do limited damage there since their prices are fixed. Unless, of course, they over tip "because its less than what it costs at the BM" (anyone here like that? ![]() Probably the best thing that we can hope for is just to be very careful about sharing knowledge about places like Oasis, Kamur, D'Pelufos, Arcada etc. with such newbies. Personally, I've stopped posting about any of my favoritas on this board or any board, though I'd be more than happy to share such info with guys I meet in CR once I know they are "with the program" |

Actually I think this happens right about the same time every year. We are in the height of high season, Holidays are over except for semana Santa, and the place is loaded with newbies, and lustful Americans. Of course the sharp ladies of the DR/BM will ask for the astronomical number as right now it is simply a sellers market. 6 more weeks, Green Season rolls in, the Demand drys up and you will have the same 1 hour cien girls either standing there with their Silicone Torpedos or simply taking whatever the negotiated price is and be happy for it or go home empy handed. Obviously anyone who makes many trips realizes the fluctuation in the market, and I for one can't wait for Green season. I'll take the warm days and the rain over the cold winds of Avenida Central. As Mark Twain once wrote the coldest winter he ever spent was his summer in San Francisco. I don't think Mark Twain has ever been to CR in dry season dam is is chilly for summer. OK back on topic, Don't find it as disturbing as I think it is just the sign of the time of year. |

It's basically a lack of balls. It's the same gringos who let the American women use them as doormats....and they say they are fed up with it and go to C.R., only do let the woman dictate the terms once again. Sad, sad. |

Gamblingman is right about the season. Once it slows down they aren't so uppity anymore. I even see the difference in the treatment and price I have gotten from regulars in the past, depending on time of the year. |

I am always amazed by the guys who write insulting things about chicas who happen to be successful at their chosen occupation. If any of you guys were hookers at the DR,would you be more charitable with your rates if you could get more. C'mon, who's shitting who. The profession is often called "hustling" for good reason. There is no reason to resent chicas who happen to be good at it. I have often said that the negotiations that transpire are a game, and the chicas play this game day after day,guy after guy,so naturally they are better at it than we are. If guys want to play, then they should learn how to play it better. I have on rare occasions paid $100 to a chica that won the game with me,but it is never for just one hour. However Romulus brings up a good point. Chicas always ask for $100 but the ones that you should run away from are the ones who add the "for one hour bullshit" |

Right on VB. The bit about $100 for an hour is just a starting point, or ending point depending on the chica. It's like I stated in my recent post about weight. Most mongers complain about a little, and I do mean a little (as in 5-10 lbs) extra weight on the chicas who are not perfectly flaca. But us gringos can have an extra 15-100 lbs extra and its OK. I have about 10-15 extra lbs as I stated, but so what? I love the ladies with no more than 5-15lbs extra. It comes with age and so what and BFD?? I sure ain't perfect and they ain't either. They do what they do, they are who they are, do it very well after a bit, and as you said, you just have to match them stride for stride. It IS a game and sometimes your the pigeon and sometimes your the statue. If some chica won't get off her high horse, I just tell her politely to ride a different range. Gettin pissed off ain't ever worth a rise in blood pressure. 3P |

As I have posted in the past, I have seen my chicas "journal" of activities. Last February she pulled $6000 USD out of the Del Rey. Almost as much in January. January-April are the good months for the girls. Place is flooded with "new blood" that knows no better. All you Costa Ricans correct me if I am wrong but, Costa Rica really truly has 2 VERY distinct seasons. High and low, not much in between. dapanz1 |
