Does anybody here use, and travel with a C-PAP device? Do the girls get weirded out if you invite them for TLN and put on your space mask when it's time to sleep a few hours? Did you purchase one of the travel size models, or do you drag a normal size model with you. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea years ago, and use a c-pap here in the states, and on business trips. I haven't taken it to Costa Rica with me, so, understandably, I am usually very tired, and take many naps, wasting a lot of my time down there stuck in my room sleeping/resting. Also passed up an invitation or two to go to a late night club with some of the girls because I was to pooped to pop. |

Why suffer with being tired and not being able to enjoy yourself? My experience is that they are curious and some even want to try putting it on it to see what it's like. Never had it ruin a visit but if that's the case, find someone who it doesnt bother. Your health and happiness is what counts. I just use the tap water since distilled water is hard to find and very expensive when found. I carry my full sized in it's travel case but am interested in small travel sized unit. |

haven't looked into the travel sized ones too much myself, but I think there are some about the size of a regular brick, that weigh about 2 pounds. |

I use a lightweight travel CPAP. I don't have to use it every night but I find that I usually sleep better when I do use it. I usually keep it in a drawer by the bed so it is handy when I want it but hidden from view when I don't. |

I always travel with a Transcend Travel Auto CPAP. It is about a pound and the whole setup fits into a small padded case that easily fits in my backpack. The size also makes it easy to fit into the drawer of a bedside table in a hotel room. I purchased the travel size as I actually use it on planes when I fly to Asia or Europe. Without it, my snoring would keep the entire business class section of a 747 awake the entire flight. It has an optional battery that will power the unit for about 8 hours if there isn't a plug nearby. I have never had anyone freak over the device, especially when I explain that it will eliminate my snoring that most certainly would keep them awake all night. |

Traveled the World with my CPAP Machine with no problem. Needed an AC Converter in Buenos Aires which was no problem at all. Always had no problem getting Distilled Water. |

If you go with a ResMed AirMini you use an insertable heat & moisture exchanger cartridge. It goes between the headgear and the hose. They are not cheap ($7.50 each) and you have to change it every 30 days, but you don't need to bother with water. Also, it is CPAP instead of BiPAP which, for me, makes it a bit less comfortable. I use an AirCurve Auto at home and the AirMini when traveling, both by ResMed. |

I have had many chicas ask what it was and why it was hanging off the bedpost. First I would joke and tell them that I was a fighter pilot and enjoyed getting lots of oxygen to stay strong for a long time. Then I would tell them it was to prevent snoring and they all wanted me to put it on and let them hear the difference. Some even wanted to try it on themselves. My guess is many an overnighter has been ruined by constant snoring which pulls the drapes in and out. |

It can also be a legal way to get an extra carry on bad on your trip. Since it is considered a medical device you can travel with it in the cabin area and can't be charged for an extra carry on. I have an id tag that I put on the extra carry on, I usually throw in a few extra items into the bag. I have only been asked once about if I was going to use it in flight. I tell them I don't use it while in flight as I can't sleep on airplanes. |
