Spirit Air has canceled more than half of their flights for five consecutive days now, 419 yesterday. Perhaps they got hacked? Many years ago I used to enjoy flying Spirit, and was a member of their "$9 fare club". I would always pay extra for an emergency row seat, which had A LOT of leg room. Then they started to go downhill, and I never flew them again. Anyone have any issues flying to CR recently?

I haven't flown Spirit in awhile, but I just flew Volaris direct from Cancun. The entire experience was unpleasant, but it got me to SJJO nonstop under 2 hours and price was cheap! So you get what you pay for!

What a cluster phuck of an airline.

I had a flight to MDE from FLL in 2008 and both the pilots looked like bag porters. One overweight and in early 60s looked he could die of heart attack while at the helm. The other looked like he from Fantasy Island TV show.

It’s Spirit, set your expectations to zero and you’ll be satisfied

The only way I would ever consider flying spirit would be if it was a non-stop, direct flight and I could carry on my bag. They do fly out of Columbus OH and have great prices to SJO but has to connect I believe in Ft Lauderdale. I have heard that you have less than a 50% chance of getting there close to on time.

If I lived in S Florida I might chance them but Delta has been very reliable for me out of CBUS through Atlanta.

Plenty of American flights being cancelled as well. I did make it in & out of SJO last week on AA with no issues. Also flown Spirit to Vegas over 10 times in the last year with no issues. I think it is mainly a pilot shortage as many took the early retirement packages they were offered last year and the quick turnaround in air traffic recently left them all hanging by their short hairs. Booked a DFW/SJO flight for Labor Day week for $279 on Spirit. If they don't have their shit together by then I can just move it to a later date or take the loss.
