Anyone happen to hear if a Halloween trip is worth it for this year if the parties will happen????

I'm sure it's going to depend on the Covid restrictions that will be in place late October. If we are still looking at a 9pm closing time and a 25 to 50% capacity restriction, I doubt there will be much organized activity.

Regardless I will probably be there as my previously plannes Thailand trip probably isn't going to happen.

I have a trip planned for October 27. I lived in CR last year from March to June. What I trying to say is…things were pretty good when bar capacity was at 75% and curfew was 11pm…then “cases” started rising after Semana Santa in early April and it kinda sucked when curfew got pushed up to 9pm…last call was at 8:30-8:45ish. I waited book a trip to go back in Halloween because I thought by that time with vaccines, etc.. things would at least be back to 75% capacity and at least 11 pm curfew….we’ll see…I’m sure many on here already know but the Tico Times is a newspaper in English to get updates on restrictions and for even more info there’s CRHoy.com…a regular more in depth newspaper..it’s in Spanish but with Google translate, you can easily read what’s going on.

Thanks Bp for the intel. I too am flying in on October 27th - November 3rd. Halloween parties at the Del Rey will be sorely missed. Last time I was there they had this band that played classic rock songs (badly but still fun) and late in the evening I yelled out Oye Como Va....well they nailed it and kept it going for like 10 minutes. I was dancing and before I knew it had 4 chicas dancing with me in a group. One I finished the night with so I love that band. I wish Del Rey and Blue Marlin were still open for Halloween this year..

I'm in SJ right now and the rumor is that the curfew will go back to 11pm soon, maybe in the next 2 weeks. I'm hearing this outside of the gulch, so it may be more than wishful thinking.
