I understand that rental cars are also exempt.

Saturday night enforcements in San Jose:
7 commercial businesses closed
8 more cited with investigations opened
2 house parties stopped
140 traffic stops with 40 citations given out
All in all, not too bad. I am not aware of any monger focused places cited. If course, I did not visit them all.

Boynton :

I just had a chica leave my apartment (Amon) for her home in Sabanilla. Thursday, she had a 4 minute wait and a fare of c3800. Saturdays are usually faster and cheaper than weekday afternoons. Today it was a 15 minute wait and the fare was c5100. Same girl, same origin, same destination, even the same time-of-day. Far fewer drivers available.

Funny you mentioned that, my regular was with me this Saturday, she's outside of San Jose, her trip was 5k more when she left me around 7 pm or so than when she showed up around noon.

She didn't seem to have a problem with it, perhaps because I paid it, lol...

The same regular just left again and the fare was back down to c2900. I told her we needed to change from Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. Any weekend chicas can manage their own transportation.

This week saw the two highest days of infection so far. Four hospitals in San Jose have no available ICU beds for Covid patients. CR had to turn to El Salvador for 10,000 doses of Fentanyl to sedate those on ventilators. Even with that, last night 7 restaurants/bars were closed for violating restrictions. Party On!

Beginning Tuesday, April 27 and until May 16 (at least), vehicle restrictions will begin 2 hours earlier at 9pm on all days. As of 2:30 today, there were 1832 new cases.

President Alvarado has ruled out other closures. Nod, nod, wink, wink. He is even rumored to have drawn a red line and stomped his foot. The virus paid rapt attention.

And in response, crhoy.com reports that there have been 170 reports of clandestine partied in the last few hours. The police don't have enough people to investigate them all.

The CAJA gas found a novel way to extend the vaccine supply. The article is in Spanish, but if you watch the video the technique is pretty clear.
https://www.crhoy.com/nacionales/adulto ... -la-gente/

The Health Ministry is investigating this innovative approach.
https://www.crhoy.com/nacionales/minist ... lto-mayor/
"The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas sent an "urgent "document to Mario Ruiz, the medical manager of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) to remove the officials related to an anomaly in vaccination from charges. , released in the last hours in La Unión de Cartago. "I consider it prudent to consider as a precautionary measure the removal from the office of the people who could be related to this event, while the investigation is advancing to clarify the real truth of the events and establish the responsibilities that are determined," requested the hierarch. In a video broadcast on social networks, it is observed where an official punctures an elderly adult, but does not apply the dose of vaccine against COVID-19. After the news broke, Salas requested to apply a vaccination protocol from now on. "With knowledge of the investigations initiated, I request that, in order to provide the best service to the population and the necessary tranquility at critical moments, it be included as soon as possible, in the vaccination procedure protocol that the vaccinator shows, to the person to be vaccinated, the syringe before and after the immunization. In this way, whoever receives the vaccine, or his companion from him (in the event that he requires it due to his condition from her) can fully verify the completion of the process. This measure must be accompanied by the respective supervision for compliance, "added Salas. In the document, Salas tells Mario Ruiz that these actions are vital out of respect for the population.""

While I don't know whether this is real or a hoax, I will get my jab during a visit to the US.

Record cases today in SJ at 2781 cases in a day. A month ago there were averaging 400-500 a day.

UPDATE:
The government ordered the closure of commercial establishments during the next week as a measure to try to counteract the increase in COVID-19 cases in the country. The decision was made after a meeting on Thursday morning between government authorities and representatives of various business chambers and will apply to the central region of the country. The measure applies as of Monday, May 3 and momentarily until Sunday, May 9.

It includes all types of establishments whose business operation is not essential. Establishments dedicated to home service, self-services, hotels, among others, will be exempt from complying with the closure measures.

This is the list of exceptions:
• Home services
• Public and private health establishments, pharmacies
• Waste collection Supermarkets, suppliers and grocery stores; bakeries, butchers, farmer's fairs.
• Hardware stores and construction materials.
• Banking services
• Self-service

However, this Wednesday a record number of infected cases was reported, as well as saturation in ICUs. Once the first week of restriction has elapsed, the authorities will begin a review of the administrative measures, the communication campaigns will be expanded and the work of the 9-1-1 with volunteers will be reinforced.

The cantons subject to the restriction are

San José: San José, Escazú, Desamparados, Aserrí, Mora, Goicoechea, Santa Ana, Alajuelita, Vásquez de Coronado, Tibás, Moravia, Montes de Oca and Curridabat.
Alajuela: Alajuela, Poás, Atenas, Grecia, Sarchí, Palmares, Naranjo, San Ramón and Zarcero
Cartago: Cartago, Paraíso, La Unión, Alvarado, Oreamuno and El Guarco
Heredia: Heredia, Barva, Santo Domingo, Santa Bárbara, San Rafael, San Isidro, Belén, Flores and San Pablo

https://www.crhoy.com/economia/gobierno ... ma-semana/

NOTE: Although hotels are listed on the exceptions, no word on changes to occupancy limits. Also no mention of restaurants, bars, or casinos. I would speculate massage parlors will not be considered "essential services" though I know some who would disagree.
UPDATE: It appears restaurants in hotels can open with 50% occupancy.
https://www.crhoy.com/nacionales/estos- ... 9-de-mayo/
Also current driving restrictions (9pm - 5am) have been extended to May 31.

Total cases are irrelevant to me. I want to know how many dying, what are the age ranges, and how many of those have multiple severe medical issues already.

THAT will tell the tale of how much a threat this is.

I know easily among my circle of friends and acquaintances at least 1/2 dozen got it, some no symptoms, some minor symptoms, a couple with nasty flu like symptoms still recovered, just like the flu.

One of my friends who got it was mid 70's with multiple issues, he breezed through it.

The real info that is relevant is not easily found.
