That's good info emc. I'm coming in on the 28th, are the protesters interfering with traffic from the airport? How about to Jaco? My wife went up to Guanacaste last week, and was delayed over 4 hours each way because of the protesters.

It varies from day to day. There is a call for a large protest near SJO today. https://qcostarica.com/unions-call-for- ... wednesday/

I had a friend caught by a blockade near Jaco last week and the trip took 7 hours.

Viva la revolución!

One thing I notice is that there is more violence. Before there was just protests and blockings. No violence at all.The president seems like he will not even talk to the people and has a middle finger attitude towards them.

I don't know if the protests are slowing down permanently, but I heard they slowed a bit late last week, when one of the leaders made a public call /apology to stop blocking the roads, as it was hurting the country. But apparently there are other organizers. All I know is my transport to Jaco was perfect, sunny day and almost nobody on the roads. Today coming back was smooth too, though rainy and more traffic.

Yesterday, Sala IV (CR's Supreme Court) condemned the President and the Police for not ending the blockades
https://qcostarica.com/sala-iv-condemns ... blockades/

So today the police started to remove one in Alajuela (Upala) and the protesters began shooting at them.

Meanwhile down south near Dominical, a car filled with Hungarian tourists plowed into a barricade injuring three protesters. The tourists were arrested.

Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Costa Rica is opening up to the world on November 1:

I also heard it rumored that they are considering lifting the insurance requirements and covid testing requirements.

It would be great if they could do away with the insurance and testing requirements That would make weekend trips doable again. I used to go down about every 45 days for a long weekeng but the current pain in the ass factor makes it not worthwhile. In the meantime, I have found plenty of hookers in Vegas.

Testing requirement hopefully would be replaced by testing on arrival. Any country that is wide open to visitors from the US is nuts.

The 'Non Bearded' varieties typically make for a more 'camera happy/photogenic' smile for the following days.. months and (in extreme cases), also the coming years! Happy Clam Digging to you all!!

Or at least allow the rapid testing type. It is really difficult to find a facility that accepts insurance and has a turnaround time that will fit the 72 hour rule.
