| Post subject: | ICE Phone cards and "*" |
I need to call my voicemail from CR and I have read that the "normal" phone cards that "don't have a chip" in them use * to terminate a call. My voice mail requires a press of * to access the vmail! What EXACTLY do I need to ask for to get the correct card "with the cheep."? Thanks Guys, (Back again for the 3rd time!) |

The most common phone cards are all plastic. You dial 197 or 199 and follow directions. If you press *, you will be disconnected. Ask for a card with a chip (con cheep), an actual memory chip embedded in the card. If the vendor doesn't have one, try the next vendor. These only work in pay phones that have a slot for them. Won't work in hotel rooms or some pay phones. The Blue Marlin has the right type of phone, most pay phones on the street do also. |

Munchy, Another option is using the phone at Zona Blue. They let you call the states direct at no cost.... And the # that shows on a display in the states is a Florida # ( for those of you that want to stay stealth) Kill "two birds" at one time Simply Nucknfuts Ps, You can also buy the phone cards at the Del Rey front desk. |

That is very "brit" of you Nuckinfuts... My favorite is that I like to go "bird watching" on my trips. The double entandra keeps accidental slips vague enough so people wonder. Mostly I need to check my v-mail a couple of times a day and maybe return a call or two. I'll look into the ZB phone for my vmail, but I'd prefer the phone card for returning calls. It seems that would be the best solution! The * part is only an issue when calling vmail! MIA->SJO t-minus 18 hours and counting. |
