After reading Easy's post about Miguel of the Del Rey, I decided to put this post up because mongers who regularly stay at the Marazan need to know.
Don't bother asking for Alonzo when you call for reservation. He was let go over a trivial matter last Monday. I'm not sure how long he had been there ( a good guess is 6 years) but he will be missed by many of us who have come to know and like him. ( Down Dino, down.)
Alonzo had had a couple of offers and he is looking at them seriously. One involves another popular Monger hotel in the gultch and another involves a hotel on the beach in MA.
I will do my best to find out where he lands and will advise the board accordingly.

In my opinion, the Morazan will fall down without Alonzo. It's no surprise that the low-life owners of the hotel would make such a stupid decision. Now they should bring back Badabing and detonate the place with him in it.

Vegas Bob,
Is Badabung going to get his "Soprano" discount though??

BTW, did you ever run into Badbung early in Jan when I told you of Alonzo's disclosure of BannedBungs arrival and staying at the Presidente, not the Morazan?? :o

Will miss Alonzo very much, wish him all the best luck in his future endeavours.

Cygnus

  Hey Steve, I will try to hold my tounge and not say anything derrogatory. I'm impressed that you even remembered the incidence. Alonzo down fall was his association with Soprano. He was a nice guy before he got involved with Soprano.

Yes, they do need to fire Ricardo. I fall prey to his constant hustling over everything one time until one day I told him to stay away from me.

I'll also miss Alonzo. He was a nice guy and very helpful. He was a 'hustler', but who isn't a 'hustler' in CR?
One time I stayed at the Morazan when Alonzo was on vacation, and
they charged me for the room safe key and also charged me a higher room rate than I would have gotten had Alonzo been there, even after I explained to them that I had stayed there quite a few times previously.

Too bad. I always thought of Alonzo as the brains behind the Morazan. Friendly, efficient, always remembered names. He knew how to keep us mongers happy, and he put up Sgt. Shultz . . . I mean Ricardo.

One time when the elevator wasn't working, Ricardo had to carry my bag upstairs. It wasn't heavy and I could have easily handled it. But it was funny watching Ricardo huff and puff, and take rests at each floor. The taxi driver that works out of the Morazan (Philip ?), told me Ricardo has worked there for 30 years.

I'm sure Alonzo will do well where ever he ends up. Keep us udated.

Oh no! I booked 13 nights there.

Alonzo told me the new rates were $50 per night, but assured me he would give me the safe for free and would not charge any chica fees. I hope they don’t stick it to me now.

Too bad about Alonzo, but he'll probably be better off. That's the Morazan's loss, not his.

I first stayed at the Hotel Costa Rica Morazan in October and then again last month. I don't know what happened during those 3 short months, but, upon my return, at least 3 members of the front desk staff (including the very smart and pretty Chris) were no longer there.

Alonzo is a good guy and a top-shelf employee. I hope Alonzo's replacement stays on top of details the way he did.
