Where is the cheapest place in San Jose to buy Flor De Cana? I have been told the Duty Free in the airport. Even though it is tax free, I assume the price is inflated as is everything in the airport.

if you are in San Jose already, there is a whole in the wall liquor place on Avenida 10 between 8th and 10th streets (a couple of store fronts in from 8th street). You need to speak spanish and pay in colones (not in US dollars even). They are the cheapest in town; only thing is they may not have it. I have gone for things one day they don't have it and the next day they do.

Cheapest in town; examples, 12000 Colones for Crown Royal, 13000 for Fireball.

The prices are reasonable and can be found most anywhere' The local grocery stores, or you can get a bottle at SL and put your name on it.
For a couple of bucks either way , it doesn't make too much of a difference shopping around.
Many times the duty free prices arent spectacularly better than at the automercado or MasxMenos
It is a strong rum and very flavorful, I prefer the flor de cana 7 , instead of the 4 year and I do not like the clear . Never had the 12

I prefer the centanario 20 and the duty free used to have the best prices by far
I think it was 2 for $40 and I would grab it on the way out
have to have a direct flight though because if you stop in say El Salvador they will confiscate it on the way home

My suggestion: Ditch the Flor de Cana and go for the Ron Zacapa. (it's not cheap in CR though. Actually cheaper in the U.S.)

Great minds think alike. Same here. Sometimes $32/$33 at Total Wine in Vegas. Why anybody even shops at BevMo still is beyond me. Zacapa there is around $49. Total Wine crushes them on all fronts.
