Damn, this is a potent reminder to us all to develop our spidey senses and intuition over younger ladies we invite to live with us.
( i hope he had numerous fun romps with her before he met his demise )

His apartment was in Jaco, but his body was found in Siquirres, which is near Limon. He probably was either 'set up' and robbed by his 'novia', or was killed by a jealous boyfriend.
It seems that CR isn't as safe as it was ten or fifteen years ago. La Nacion has an article today about an 18-year old Colombiana and her boyfriend being murdered last Friday in Tibas. She had been in CR for three months, apparently visiting her mother who was in jail.

It’s possible he was doing coke and had a heart attack and the girl panicked. Not likely but why not just roofie the guy and rob him. Seems like a lot of work to murder someone and bury them.

Plus murder charges versus robbery.

not advocating murder but clearly if she left him alive he is going to pursue action
i think the article stated something like 90% of bodies never get located
pretty pretty good odds
seems as though he was quite careless at the very least
still no one deserves this type of ending

He had met a chica named YARITZA HURTADO on a previous trip to Jaco at the Hotel Cocal. He later moved to Jaco and rented a condo. She spent a lot of time with him at his condo and possibility lived with him. She of course has denied involvement. He called his family every few days back in Vermont. So they became concerned and a expat friend went to his condo and everything was removed from the condo. So if you meet a chica at the COCAL named YARITZA HURTADO I would advise not sessioning with her. lol She is from Siquirres, Limon and his body was found in a shallow grave near that town. So probably one of her TICO friends must have a car or truck to move the body and all of his furniture back to LIMON. The family said the MISSING AMERICANS PROJECT was responsible for finding the body and the AMERICAN EMBASSEY was not of much help. I have read everything on google and I believe most everything I have written is facts

Damn. Well he must of had some really nice furniture for them to off him for it.

She was careless if the Tico cops found him that easily.

The Costa Rican murder rate is over 2x the US national rate (12.1 per 100k to the US 5.1 per 100k).

Mostly criminals killing criminals, but no, CR isn't a trouble free paradise.

Drug trafficking is insane.

Yaritiza Hurtago had a fairly good thing going for her living with him and sharing in his wealth. I would imagine her friends(drug contacts) were thinking short term by killing him and taking his cash and valubles. She is probably too scared to out the guilty people because of what they would do to her or her family. And the costa rican police are not going to investigate enough to find the truth.

“I wish all the senior expats would have enough discernment to realize that if a much younger woman seems to be interested in you it's not about your looks but about your money.
One more victim and this time in Grecia.

I've mentioned here before how an American expat here who is 77 years old has a girlfriend who is 22 years old. He ends up giving her most of his pension every month.
She is pressuring him to marry her because she wants to keep his condo.
There has been so many identical cases here and so many murders.

Please gentleman, if a much younger lady who is young enough to be your granddaughter approaches you, do you truly believe that is because of your good looks?-Awake up before it's too late.
You can read the article in Costa Rica Star News.

Also: LindyLuvs CR often says that in the beach areas there is more crime. Really?- For what I see crime happens everywhere.

In fact I think that things are pretty good here even though I know of 2 people who had their stuff stolen at the beach. One of them ( a Canadian) left his shorts unattended with $US 15.000.00 in his pockets.

Who does that?

The guy who got killed here couple of years ago was due to an argument with a pirate taxi driver where apparently he kicked the car.

Later a group of people showed up in the local bars looking for him.
He was warned but he decided to stay. Unfortunately they killed him.

Just one more thing: this same gentleman who has the 22 year old girlfriend was in the pool one day when a local lady (no idea how she got into the property) asked him if she could get his key because she needed to go to the washroom.
He told her there were public washrooms by the laundry room.
Her reply?-"I don't like to use public washrooms".
So he gave her his key.

Later when he got back to his condo, his big Plasma TV was gone.
He believes she had an accomplice.

When he asked the guard why he didn't stop her, he replied that he thought it was a gift.
I feel sorry for those who live alone and who become more vulnerable to this type of situation and I would be happy if my post would cause someone to awake up to this very sad reality.
I think most people know about other cases (on TV) where the girlfriends ended up killing the old guy they were exploiting.”

I'm a retired detective. Crime happens everywhere. People are murdered for their money in Iowa, and Paris, France. The elderly are vulnerable, often easy targets. At some point if you live long enough you will need someone to take care of your affairs. Not a bad problem to have. Many friends have died younger than I and daily I see notices of my contemporaries demise. Live everyday as if it is your last. It may be. Be cautious and alert but don't spend too much time preoccupied with worries about crime. If you make it to 77 years old and have a 22 year old girlfriend it beats the hell out of being 65 and alone. Remember that with women it is always about providing security whether she is 22 or 62. Personally I prefer looking 22 year old titties. Guys have asked me about spending large amounts of money on women here. I tell them that it is their money. They can spend it however they choose, give their property to whomever they choose. It is considerably safer living here than some US cities. It is more dangerous than most of the United States. There is a higher concentration of poor people in closer proximity here than most of suburban America. The majority of crime is committed by a small percentage of the population. Costa Rica is getting a large number of Nicaraguan immigrants both legal and illegal. They tend to be poor and commit a high percentage of the crime as compared to their percentage of the population. Same problem that exists in the States. No easy solutions. Still I love it here.
