Post subject:  COMPETENT COMPUTER PERSON
Does anyone living here around the Gulch know a competent independent computer person who will come to your home?

I live here semi-retired but still work via internet. I have to access secured sites in the USA, make and receive calls over the internet, not involving my cell phone. My apartment provides cable connected internet, no sh*tty wi-fi, it's fast.

I'm having some confusing problems and I can't work until I clear them up.

I'm also trying to find a good computer supply store around downtown, just returned from Walmart and they don't have the things I need.

Any recommendations is appreciated.

Well I got a response from a 60 year old Tico with decades of experience, coming tomorrow morning, he had an ad on CR Craigslist. I vetted him, lol. :?

Will post his name and contact info if he turns out to know his stuff, he says he does.... 8)

I have some complex problems since I also need to work remote here and access secure financial sights in the USA, network 2 laptops and work with numerous skype programs, plus I get into mischief now and then and fkkk things up doing things I think I know what I'm doing but I'm way off base... :x :x :oops: :oops:

I used to be spoiled in the USA with the Geeksquad and remote access 24/7, now down here you need a serious computer guy if you're going to try to work remote... :roll:

If things do not work out let me know. My girl knows the guy whom used to do the computer stuff for Jimmy at Zona2. He is pretty good and makes house calls.

Thanks, will do, this guy is coming tomorrow, I've been dealing with computers since mid eighties so if he is bluffing, I'll know, the issue is results, but he seemed to know his stuff in my phone interrogation...err...interview with him.

He charges 20k colones for 2 hours, perhaps a bit pricey for here, but if he clears up my problem, well worth it.

if he leaves having resolved my problem, he's my guy, if he leaves claiming he has to get back to me for a 6 hour paid endeavor, I'm calling you! :!:

OK,

GREAT JOB !!!

In 2 hours for 20k colones, he took care of both problems of both computers, also cured my charger problem on my back up computer, helped me install skype and changed my whatsapp number to my Costa Rica number because I don't use that old Florida number anymore.

He is 60 years old, and educated and intelligent, speaks perfect English and has been doing computer work for decades, honest, straightforward, I was very pleased and felt comfortable with him in my home.

His name is Favio, 506.6036.7747

I have used Favio many times and he is great - honest and professional. Knows more about Windows but has some knowledge about Macs. Highly recommend to anyone.
