I fly in on Thursday also (if the weather permits). Who's striking? Whores? I mean ticas? I haven't heard anything. I'll find a way to have fun as usual, but would appreciate hearing what's up from someone who knows. Sorry I can't be of any help.

Public workers are striking. They want the government to abandon any attempt to fix the fiscal crisis. Roadblocks, etc.

Again, government employees - public workers. Taxistas are not employed by the Costa Rican government.

ICE, RECOPE, government agency workers, AyA, teachers in public schools, CAJA hospital workers, etc.

There will be rolling strike actions in those agencies / departments / public (government) corporations and roadblocks.

The below is from the CR Hoy website:
As you can see - taxi drivers are part of the strike

Albino Vargas, General Secretary of the National Association of Public and Private Employees (ANEP), confirmed that the pressure measure will continue tomorrow at the same points on the road and with workers from the same sectors, that is, health, education, municipal employees, workers port operators and taxi drivers.

The taxistas sought to use this to advance their attack on Uber but didn't strike.

Quote:
Bonus Track : The taxi drivers took advantage of the strike to demonstrate against UBER and assured that they obtained the agreement of the Economic Affairs Committee to archive the Collaborative Mobility projects . They also announced that they will have a meeting today with Rocio Aguilar, Minister of Finance, which is why they canceled their participation in the strike.

Yesterday, I took Uber to Walmart, and red taxi home (my normal pattern). That night I went to SL for Monday Night Football, normal number of Chicas. Walked to HDR, normal crowd, chicas and taxis. It did seem like fewer cars on the road. My speculation is people conserving their gas in case supply gets constricted.

It does seem Le Sele may as well join the strike
Loss to South Korea 2-0, Loss to Japan 3-0

Thanks for the feedback as far as our activities go..i fly in next Thursday night so hopefully a sense of normalcy will return
