He states that 3 out of 4 resident gringos are conman scum and he comes down to CR and breaks the law using white face powder, and brags about it.
Sure made SL look bad. If I was Bill I would ban him.

El Ciego- That is a great post. It made my night reading it. As a fellow Minnesota brother, I owe you a phone call!! I am going back to CR in July and I have not been there in 10 years or so. This will be my 14th trip. Today I woke up and began to think about all my experiences down there. Your writing is inspirational!!

1. El Ciego painted with a broad brush, but he was guilty of exaggeration rather than falsehood. I would say that it isn't 3 out of 4 gringo expats, but there's a goodly number. Especially amongst those living hand-to-mouth. And it's more that they are willing to screw over what they perceive as a tinhorn.

Maybe that rubs off from Ticos. Separating gringos from their money is an international sport and there's some world-class professionals in Costa Rica. Heck, if there was a World Cup in it, Le Sele would be a top ranked contender.

2. As to the second part... I don't do drugs (aside from the odd sociable puff when offered - and it's never done anything for me), but it takes significant naivete to imagine that any place in the Gulch is drug free (defined as "more than weed"). On the other hand, I wouldn't talk about it here either.

Nice. I attempt to remove the post *because* of some things I regret posting, and you guys continue to quote, comment etc.

1. No drug references were made which included mention of my hotel. They were probably Hunter S. Thompson style exaggeration and fiction anyway; those who know me know that I'm full of shit.

2. No actual names were mentioned of CRT brothers. Those who know the guys in question would recognize and wouldn't have a problem.

3. No girls were mentioned by name; initials were used, except for Debra (banned from SL) and "Karolina Gasolina," who I haven't seen in years. Katrina, who introduced hers3elf as "Bubbles," stole the ring mentioned in the original post; I don't have a problem calling her out.

After reading the original post, I have decided to not repost it, even in the V.I.P. section. Much of it was fiction and exaggeration, but it reads as though it were reality.

Thanks for your support gentlemen. And no Zman, I don't imagine I'll be banned by Bill...but it is his call, of course. Plenty of good chica-friendly lodging in SJ, albeit none as special for me as the SL.

I checked into the SL one time and found marching powder on the closet shelf. Lulz. Guess someone left it for next time.

At the Rey, you can walk outside and get it in a few minutes.

Now I know no gringos do that stuff, coughing.....but it’s a fact of life down there. I know it’s a sensitive subject. But why all the hand wringing? Statute of limitations has passed.
