In the Rainy Season in Costa Rica, which according to weather forecasters starts in April, does it rain all day and all night? How long during the day and night does it rain? Do I need to bring an umbrella? Thank you in advance for your input and sharing. ![]() |

Rains usually after three and either pores for an hour or light rain for the night. Very seldom does it rain all day. Umbrella can be bought here for a few dollars Matt |

Weird thing about the rain in the tropics, it is usually still warm even though you get wet. Its not like the cold rain up north that you try to stay out of. |

Rainy season usually starts in mid May not Sept. Usually strong at first the let's up a bit in July - Aug. It is the worst in Sept and out. Hardly ever rains all day. Mostly sunny mornings and rain in afternoon. You will learn to never leave your house without an umbrella. |

Only thing I would add is that the timing of the rain, the amount, and the length of the season will vary by location within the country. San Jose gets considerably more rain than my location in the northwest Pacific coast where cactus grow wild. DrJay |
