ideas for a change of scene trip:

-Fun and social even if rolling solo
-No transatlantic flight
-natural beauty, good fishing, etc.
-relatively safe, pretty ladies
-affordable
-Not stuck in a large city or touristy beach resort all trip

-My first choice was MDE but the fishing hurts bankroll.
Any good banana republic spots?
Guatemala?

Pacific Fin in Guatemala, but the fishing is muy caro.

I just booked a trip to the GUA for Nov. Casa Vieja Lodge, Escuintla, GUA. It was an all inclusive package not including air fare. Airport transfers, 3 days bill fishing, food hotel & booze. I will look for a cheaper alternative to their $2930 price tag when I am down there. I will also post a detailed trip report after the trip!

Antigua looks gorgeous on the way to the coast. i assume it is BYOC near the coastal marinas. I should not assume until exploring however :)

My sailfishing guests who have been to Guatemala say that Casa Vieja (which supposedly has a pension next door) is the cheaper alternative. My rich-as-shit fly fishing guest says Pacific Fin is basically a 5 Star resort where your wife is pampered with spa treatments, etc. whilst you fish.

Casa Vieja is "the boys' club' for sail-fishing.

Antigua is supposedly a must see.

And was that $2930 with transfer from Guatemala City?

But don't be confused. Casa Viaje isn't a "SL-style base'.

I just spoke with them in detail, sounds pretty good. Of course it's not Jaco or Los Suenos, but it does sound like there are options.

I guess I should change my thread title

Transfer to & from airport, 3 days fishing, 4 nights at the lodge, all meals & from what I understand booze also but I may be mistaken about the booze.

Any more intel on the pension next door to the CVL would be appreciated!!

No clue on that, but I will advise when I return.

I have to assume that if you bring a chica with you, you will do one of 2 things with her:
-1) leave her in the room with all your stuff while you fish......bad choice
or
-2) pay the $2930 for her to go on the boat with you as I can't imagine they would let someone on the boat without paying....another bad choice.

Here's an area I can contribute to pay back from the intel I have gotten off of here over the years . I have a fishing problem , and only go where the chicas are lol

Punta Cana ( Cap Cana ) fish with either Mike's Marina (budget ) or Dhara ( Pro Crew) . Both places will pick you up at your hotel in Bavaro . Go to Steve's Bar , have never had to go further than there lol

PTY party in PC for a night or 2 ( Habanos )then hop plane to David , then get driver to Boca Chica and Fish with Shane @ Sportfish Panama . You can stay at resort instead of lodge to save some money . No nightlife in BC , so bring from PC if you can .

Casa Vieja is nice , I haven't been there . I don't do lodges , not sure chica friendly (family spot ). There is also Blue Bayou in GUA as well .

Quepos fish adventure is affordable , and will put you on the fish . They fish the same water as LS . John runs a great fleet there .

Cabo ..Fish with Renegade Mike , works hard to put you on the fish . Affordable as well . Chica scene kinda sucks there though, one strip club there ,but I haven't been to it . CL and Tinder are your friend there . If you get a nice one , keep her .

I fish with the ones above regularly , and highly recommend them . Let me know if you have any questions .

This looks like fun if you're the adventurous sort. I'm considering it.
