Tried to recently convince my friend to try Costa Rica. We are both in our late twenties. Thinks its more fun to only chase girls. Definitely agree chasing is fun but I think he should try all avenues. All my friends are either getting married or out there playing the game. Should I just give up trying to have them see my way? Opinions and stories are welcome.

Do what's best for YOU. It seems like you're more wise than your friends.

Your friends can make their own lives with their own choices........ and so can you.

So you go into a bar in the US and you might find a girl to give you her phone number.

In the HDR you can (actually) Phuck every woman in the place.

I did not heed much of any advice until it was billed at $300 an hour, prorated in 6 min increments. I suspect many others are the same.

No, don't give up. Most will never come, but some will. Make sure you show them pictures. As your group ages and matures, many will change their minds and end up joining you. During the years I traveled to CR frequently, I brought along 12 buddies over the course of 6 years. Most were married.

I don't consider myself more wise. Some things work for different people including marriage. I just don't want them to finally decide to come to Costa Rica when they are in their 50s or 60s and then say they regret not coming here sooner like 90% of these mongers.

Not gonna lie, before I came to Costa Rica, I had to swallow my pride before partaking in mongering which many of my friends aren't able to. I was only able to do so because I know life is short and death is permanent.

These mongering trips I've done this year have been the most fun I've had in many years. I know I will eventually want something more serious later. But I'm happy to be go wild and be treated like a real man for a couple days every few months. For many guys living in the US, the opportunity to be a man is suppressed by society. Doesn't matter what socioeconomic class you are in. Not saying its super easy either in any of these countries we monger in. But it's better to say the least.

I don't try to convince people. I just let them know there's something for everyone. Upon mentioning Costa Rica, I get those looks. Then, sideways comments. There are drug lords and cocaine down there. While that may be true. It's NOT the average day in Costa Rica unless that's what you're looking for. I ALWAYS let them know there is something for everyone. They tend to forget about the environment, education, and businesses. It's just overcoming that initial hurdle.

I know this one girl state side. I repeatedly told her about Costa Rica. It may have been about beaches, coffee, or history. She eventually overcame her fear. She went, and she told me she had a great time. Most people have the wrong image of Costa Rica. UNLESS that's what they are looking for.

As for mongering, yes. You do have to swallow your pride to partake in the festivities. Growing up with a Christian background, it went against everything I believed. I realize how much BS I was spoon fed as a youngster. Talking snakes and talking donkies. LOL The stuff I used to believe.

Here's a secret about mongering. You learn to NOT give a Phuck about females. NOT in a bad way, but they love that. You can literally start to feel the change in power. So, is it useless? NO. I think it depends on the person you're talking to. It's good to plant that seed though. They may think what the Phuck ever initially, but that thought will always stay with them. Leading them to at least look deeper into going if not visiting Costa Rica in a few to five years. I just leave the mongering part out. It's none of their business.

If it's meant to be, they will find out about that.

They probably think like me, when I was in my twenties I had no problem picking up girls and in those ancient days (1970's to early 80's) they were all on the pill and loved being pursued and pounded, no aids yet and no condoms needed. Wait till you are 50 and older, all your friends will come and many will bug you about planning the next trip...

By then I might be all mongered out and married. In a couple of years, I might go to one of these countries and find the one. I have a history of not predicting my own future for shit.

It's like herding up feral cats. No one can make a commitment, so our main group of 3 has decided to make it an annual SuperBowl/Sailfishing trip every year. We extend the invite to everyone (20-25 friends) knowing that we will be lucky to get 2-3 to make the trip! Unbelievable, yet I know what the obstacle(s) is/are.

-1) CR or any Intl travel is not within their comfort zone for traveling
-2) They want to be faithful to their spouse (Ha!!!)
-3) Their spouse has heard of the CR & won't let them go (another HAHA!!)
-4) They think they will go to jail just for being a Gringo!

I'm sure there are other reasons but we don't care to hear them anymore, we are going SuperBowl weekend & that's all she wrote!!

This is a great topic. I wanted to come with a friend the first time I went to CR and since I did so much research and I had great help. My friend that came with me is not really into mongering, def did not have as much fun as me. Even though he is a trooper and he was only there for a few days, he doesnt really like the hobby so he would find excuses and not partake as willingly. The point of all this is that if your friends don't want to come, don't force them, they probably don't wanna p4p and are just happy the way they are. Trust me on this, every time you mention Costa Rica you are being judged by your friends and everybody else, but who cares? I'm actually looking forward to my next solo trip in 10 days, 18 hours and 19 mins but who's counting? I know I'll meet amazing people there, have a crew and have fun with people who have the same interests as me. And if I don't meet anyone, I'll just do my own thing and still have a good time because no one is judging me or giving a rats ass of what I do.
