Quick question. My daughter 5 years broke her leg and is in hospital for Ch*ldren. In going to fly down there right away. Is that hospital covered by the national insurance ? I'm bringing money and my credit card. But just wondering what to do and expect? Is there a white guy American tax or is it covered by the national insurance. From what I read it's covered. But you never know when it comes to these "taxes" I think it's a good hospital. Very pHappy for that Thanks in advance for advice. |

I hope your daughter heals quick. It should be covered. It was in the case of my novia's son for surgery a few months ago. Good hospital and Great care. |

+100. My Nica's son broke his forearm in the same location last month for the 5th time in 10 years..... probably due to poor nutrition without much calcium in the diet. He is an illegal alien in a foreign country. Hospital de los NiƱos in SJ did a good job repairing the fractures by placing a rod down the marrow of each bone...... no cast, just a couple of stitches at each end of the forearm. That type of repair had not been done for him before in Nicaragua. His arm should be good from now on. Your insurance will probably cover your daughter's leg. I believe that the CR Caja healthcare system pays for emergency care even if the patient does NOT have insurance .... especially for Ch*ldren. And even covers emergency care (like for a heart attack) for gringos without insurance coverage. I think that follow-up care is not covered for uninsured people after the emergency. |

Thank you for the advice I figured maybe all is paid for except medications that they give you when you leave. All the Google reviews say it's excellent and all covered, except in some cases with medication which ends up being cheap anyways. Thank god it's one of best hospitals. |

All Ch*ldren under 18 are 100% covered by CAJA no matter what their parents status (immigration, work, economic). Any prescription drugs will also be covered. You shouldn't have to pay anything at all. |
