Can anyone let me know if there is a store(s) in San Jose where I can find quality hiking shoes, i.e. Timberland or Ecco. I brought my wrong shoes (walking shoes) and going hiking in Corcovado next week and my guide informed me the trails are pretty muddy.

I know there is a Payless shoe store next to Price mart in Alajuela. Also there shows to be one not too far from Zona2 off 101. If you head north on Ruta 32 then take a right onto 101 then 5th right onto 45 and it should be on the right side.

There's a Timberland store in Plaza Lincoln in Moravia.

Anywhere in CR, you will be double (or more) for imports.

Actually, anywhere in the world you will pay more for imported merchandise.

I'd buy the cheapest pair of decent boots I can find, no name brand since they will be pretty phucked up. I don't know about where you are going but when I did an ATV ride up in mountains near Jaco, there was this reddish clay mud that did not want to wash out of my nearly new white sneakers. Next!
