Good luck with that endeavor. Krispy Kreme could not make it in my town wait till the get ahold of the good old tico culture and sky high rents for busy locations and see how long they last. If Baglemans pulled out then Krispy Kreme should have an even tougher time. I agree though keep the ticas away while they are open though.

Based on related business articles I'd give it a year, maybe 2. And gourmet coffee? Yeah, because that's impossible to get in CR. The fact that Starbucks exists there baffles me.

I like the little coffee shop/ice cream ''Pops" by Parque Morazon. I only hit Starbucks if I cannot find coffee anywhere else, but never in CR.

Krispy Kremes are awesome. I hope they open 25 stores in San Jose, so the chicas can get curvy like I prefer.

Krispy Kreme has issues in the US. Think they will have a tough time in CR. IIRC, their model assumes a fair amount of sales to supermarkets.

Still waiting for Dunkin Donuts to open shop at one point. They're already in Panama, Honduras and Guatemala.

Not surprised at Starbucks success. They are crushing it, will probably open ten more stores in the next three years. Ticos love the US franchises.

Piggy....Piggy....Piggy....

That means healthcare costs will rise as more and more develop obesity related diseases and considering that CR is essentially on a government healthcare plan that means someone will have to pay for those increased healthcare costs and Guess who That will be........

I love those KK donuts, but only have about one a year. I fear that the obesity epidemic we have in the US may be creeping to Costa Rica. If you like fat chicks, the world will be your oyster. Personally, not my cuppa tea.

Clearly the livestock auction comment is the funniest I have seen in a long time. 10 years ago I had the idea of a Dunkin Donuts on Central. I was told that the owner of the others in Central America held the rights to any new ones.

Well if KK OR DD fattens up the chicas, they'll just start looking more like their customers in the DR and SL.

Another good one is from Richard Price's novel "Ladies Man". The narrator is in a 1970s single's bar, and he runs into a buddy. The buddy comments about the women in the bar: "The chicks in here are so ugly, I want to dip their faces in dough and make animal crackers."
