I will be getting in at 12:15 AM Sat Morn. Is there anywhere to get liquor? Is there any late night partying, say 1-5 AM? Is the DR hot then? it will be my birthday weekend and want to maximize my party time. Thanks for any input.

Yes, the HDR has 2 bars that will be open. If you are asking about buying bottles, you'll have to do it on Saturday.

There are chicas in HDR 24 hours a day. At 1am, you are choosing from sloppy seconds and the ones that have not gotten picked all night. It can get pretty scary after midnight.

I would suggest that you go to sleep and wake up rested to start your trip. If you try to session after flying for hours at night (more tiring than flying during the day), you will end up with a crappy session with a mediocre chica, and then you will be dragging ass the rest of your trip.

Agree with Orange, rest for the next day. I tried hitting the ground running on a midnight arrival. Turned out to be a train wreck.

If your flight lands at 12:15 am, by the time you go through immigration, customs and get to San Jose...then check in to your hotel, it will be more like 2:30 to 3am.

Kind of late for any quality action, probably. Now if you are staying at HDR, going down for a drink and checking out the scene might not be a bad deal :D

2:30-3? I would say 1:30 at the latest.

Land, go thru immigration, no checked bags, right thru customs and out of the terminal by 12:45 max. In the first airport taxi, and with no traffic arrive at about 1:15am.

Orange's estimate is about right. Last trip I landed around 11:30 and was at HDR easily before 1:00 am. That includes picking up a checked bag and dropping it off at my hotel near HDR. My ride was waiting so no time lost there.

You guys are fast!

My experience with sleepy immigration officials and checked luggage has been lengthier...in any case, good luck to our friend :D

Thanks to everyone for the response. I guess I will play it by ear. Yes I will be staying at DR, so I will probably go with Bandon's idea and at least go for a drink and check out the scene. No expectations.
