Combing the Tico board it looks to have happened around Feb 2. A few posts later is a screen shot from the newscast.

I was there during this action. It was 2 sisters, and what started as a hair-pulling screamfest ended with one poking the other one in the tummy. We are not talking about a shiv deal here, I think it was with a hairbrush. I don't even recall an ambulance coming, though they moved both girls to the stairwell area near Ave 1.

If this post is about a different thing, then I don't know. I only replied to the date mentioned.

Damn, what is going on in the gulch and CR? I was perusing some news articles(and I mean in the last 6 months), an inordinate amount of murders and deaths in CR. A Florida gringa(she was hot too) was stabbed by her Tico lover in the hotel, La Casa 69(may not be in the Gulch-not sure), the gringo murdered with his family, an oriental dude jumped out of the 4th floor of Hotel Morazon to his death on the street, 2 deaths in the HDR last year(one of them I was there when La Fuerza & coroners office came to get him), I witnessed a fight late one night that spilled out of the DR that resulted in shots being fired right in front of me, another gringo dead, the working girl in Jaco last year……crazy goings on down there.

Drugs, desperate times, hopelessness??? In all my years going down there, never saw this. And I am not trying to say it isn't safe, just strange….

I think this nails it. Domestic violence was not gulch related but probably more drug related. Anytime you have elderly, drinking, drugs and general over indulging you have heart attacks and overdoses. As for the bathroom incident mentioned above, I have found no evidence that it happened. Being the Del Rey i am sure it would have hit all the local news that night.

And that is another headscratcher... I would expect it to blow up on media. And Mkink you know way better than I how such things play out in SJ.

I heard of it through a friend who was in touch with a favorita. That motivated me to check the Tico board for some insight. A few posts and the pic from TV42 are all that I found. Then the discussion moves on.

True or not, I'm scratching BJ in the HDR ladies room off my bucket list as a precaution.

Again guys, if this is about the Feb 2 incident, it was just two sisters getting into a fight because one transgressed upon the other's territory (sic. client). THIS is not an incident of domestic violence, nor a random act of violence...it's just par for the course in Costa Rica, or any other latin american country where passions run high and tempers short.

The last HDR death I heard of was an old guy dying in his sleep. And someone jumping out of a window is hardly a sign of the times. I fail to see what you are getting so worked up over. But then, I admit to not giving a shit anywayz.

Had an actual stabbing-murder occurred in the Del Rey, then there would in all probability be something in the Google-indexed news. However, if someone had simply been stabbed and not seriously injured, then it is less likely to have received serious media attention. At best, a non fatal stabbing may have received a brief mention in the broadcast news. Chances of media attention go down even more if the victim used private transport to get to the hospital and the police were never called.

I can't find anything in the news that would support a murder, death or serious assault at the Del Rey in 2016. If someone can find otherwise, then please post a link to the news source.

So, if the rumor has any truth, then it's mostly likely a fight in the ladies room that got out of hand and then blown out of proportion in gossip.

Maybe it is just one of those tales that goes from little to big along the grapevine. I'm now believing this is all about what BD said and blown out of proportion as word moved along.

I've searched the 'net in both English and Spanish and could find nothing about it at all so I too think we are probably talking about the incident BD witnesses after the facts snowballed into a story of murder.
