When I first heard the news of CD arrest, I frantically tried to cancel my trip, but I got no help from the airlines.
You mean Delta wouldn't give you a full refund becuase CubaDave was arrested for promoting sexual tourism? Hard to believe. I can't believe you expected some kind of special treatment for this. If there was a huge earthquake or flood and half the country was destroyed, I could see the airlines cutting the traveler a break. But not for a whoremonger being arrested. Did they laugh when you asked? I'm just basting balls, but I don't think you were serious anyway.

Is this the writing on the wall for all of us?
Yes, if you do what he did. If you sell whoremonger guide books, maps, post your picture so they can easily identify you, you can expect to be treated the same way as him. For the other 99.9% of guys who travel down there and have their fun legally, and don't post graphic details on social media, most would agree there should be nothing to worry about.

Can an obscure law be used to bring down this website, business, or other establishments.
That stands to be seen. Nobody knows if they will attempt to apply this law in other ways. My guess is that they got their one high profile arrest. It will hold them over for a year or two. It should be a deterrent and keep other wanna be CubaDaves from following in his footsteps. My guess is that they won't try to enforce to this law again.

I would prefer a million times to be arrested in the USA for soliciting prostitutes than to spend a night in that notorious CR prison.
If that were really true, you would cancel your trip no matter what the fees would be.

Do I bring my digital camera along or leave it at home? Would an overzealous airport officer decides to inspect digital medial on the day of my departure from CR?
If you plan to take pictures of hookers, I would leave it at home. Seriously, anybody who even thinks about taking pictures after what just happened needs to have their head examined. Don't think that the CR government can't access anything you upload to some virtual cloud or email.
