From this morning's news... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/delta-pla ... 40913.html Too bad Delta doesn't pass on some of the savings/profits to the customers via lower fares, baggage fees, etc ![]() ![]() Pathetic and typical ![]() |

I just flew them over the weekend ... The outbound checkin process was a nightmare. We barely got on the plane. Inbound was much better. Neither time was I able to checkin online. "Website problems" they said. Still charged me full price for three bags nevertheless. Arrived an hour late on the inbound. I paid about 100 dollars less than normal for 4 tickets so I did save money despite the inconveniences. Yes it appears this airline is emulating Spirit success por lo bueno y lo malo |

On Spirit, I've never had a problem or delay when checking in. The check-in counter agent in Orlando used to assign seats for me, but now they tell me it will be an extra charge if they do it. So I use the automated check-in at the counter, and usually get fairly good seats. In Medellin, the person at the counter does the check-in and assigns seats, no extra charge. I've been through there enough that some of the agents recognize me and almost always give me a good seat, usually an exit row. An inconvenience is the long wait for bags at FLL, but I think that is an airport problem, not a Spirit problem. Other carrier passengers seem to have the same problem. It usually takes at least 45 minutes for the bags to arrive. FLL has improved its security check-in, but some other parts of that airport are pretty bad. |

Ever since the passing of Pan Am, TWA etc. the U.S. airlines have done nothing but Stunk up the Joint. They are a total embarrasment and I do everything possible to avoid that Garbage. |

My dad worked as a mechanic for Pan Am so we flew everywhere when I was young. It was usually a choice of the filet mignon or chicken teriaki. The alcohol flowed and the stewardesses were fetish quality. I grew up and never looked back with my babysitter in Helsinki Finland in 1970 when the folks were out partying. Now we get a bag of peanuts... |

Can't remember when I last had peanuts on a flight. Usually its some processed food like cookies or pretzels. |

How about several bags of BLUE potato chips, cookies, popcorn, etc. and non-alcoholic drinks - - - - all free on a U.S. carrier with mostly on-time performance and one checked bag also free. |

And you are referring to Jetblue. Their fares have gone up so much, the increase will pay for more snacks and drinks than I can consume on five flights. Hopefully, when they come out with their new fare structure, they will have some cheap fares again. |

Avianca is not as good as Taca once was or Lacsa before that. However they still give you something to eat, sometimes twice. Once on the leg from LAX to GUA or SAL. And again on the flight from GUA/SAL to CR. Usually the alcohol/drink cart comes three times on the longer leg and if you can stand up and make it to the back galley they will poor you more. Im usually just trying to sleep but I've seen guys get completely tweaked including my last flight back. Think I've been late twice in 8 years. |

Southwest just announced they are starting the Houston Hobby to SJO service on October 15 and are ready to sell tickets. Opening price is $174 on the HOU-SJO leg and $179 on the SJO-HOU leg. Be interesting to see what service is like on SW on international flights as I've only flown them within the U.S. https://www.southwest.com/html/promotio ... 50514.html |

Consequently I would not expect much out of them in terms of service or amenities. |
