Maybe because most of us CRT fuckers don't golf in SJ........ maybe we have other priorities that we can't take care of at home.
(you know...... zip lining and waterfalls, etc).

But one of the Admins. will respond and tell us the real answer to your question (not).

I used to play golf quite frequently while I was in San Jose. It is weird though that most of the courses only have 2 or 3 holes. The one good thing though is that they are short courses and you only need your putter and nothing else. The courses were usually only par 2's but and the greens were usually brown and worn. I even found a few where the bushes were so overgrown that I had to give up. The other thing I noticed was that there were a lot of water hazards, I was constantly getting wet. Once I even had a guy try to play through on me and I told him he needed to wait till I was out of the sand trap. I can only imagine if the courses gave CRT discounts how destroyed a lot of them would get.

One time I took 6 girls to my room and played 18 holes. Kidding. Actually I would like to know if there are any decent public courses around San Jose.

LMFAO.... I don't think I could make the turn let alone play 18 holes. I might find a good one and need a mulligan. Seriously though I have played golf in the Dominican and I can tell you the grass plays much differently especially if it is wet from rain, and the greens are usually in fair to poor shape. Definitely the courses are not in the shape I am used to up here in the states.

Cariari CC and Valle Del Sol are the two 18 hole championship courses in San Jose. Cariari is a Gerorge Fazio design and they are both in good shape.

Golf in The Dominican may not be very good, but trust me when I tell you that Cariari is in much better shape than most courses you will find in the States (unless you live in south florida...) and I played on the asian tour for 4 years...

Correct, designed by George Fazio, and built by his nephew Tom Fazio in 1970 before Tom became famous as a course designer on his own.

I shot 81, 69 there several years ago in a local qualifier for a Canadian Tour event that was held in Guanacaste a week later.

Four Seasons golf course is an excellent experience and beautiful. At one point golf digest ranked it as the 27th most breathtaking golf course in the world (read that as golf course outside the us) but I have not taken energy to keep up with it since I received the acknowledgent and resigned my position there.

Hacienda Panillia is my favorite in the country, although there is a 9 hole par three in San jose area (name escapes me) is really fun and in awesome shape anytime I have ever been there might be the best time on a golf course I have had.

Valle del Sol is a good round of golf.

Cariari I agree is always in great shape, but not my favorite place. Built over 40 years ago is just way to small and short.

Reserva Conchal near Tamarindo is a goat ranch in my opinion.

And I have never played Los Delfines near playa tambor but have seen it and was in good shape.

CR golfer, would you say he is thee top designer? I believe he commands the highest fees and has some gorgeous courses in the SE. I know a lot of people would say Jack but most hate playing his courses as they are overly difficult. Although seems like we have a few scratch players in the brotherhood, haha. I never played in CR as I too am too busy seeking 2 hole. GRIP IT & RIP IT!!!!

be very weary of those 2 hole courses, they could be packing their own driver. LOLA!!!

I heard that the holes have been used by so many old putters that they are now larger than the standard regulation.

NYG,

I have played Cariari country club several times. Book it thru the COSTARICATEETIMES website. It is around 50-60 bucks (with cart). Tough course (hilly, lightning fast greens). Mandatory caddie (25 bucks). Easy to get to from the gulch. Near the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant. I am a mid 80's shooter in the US and I am happy to break 90 at Cariari. As mentioned, play in the morning, especially in the summer.
