Here in Medellin, we have several Spanish teachers who specialize in "Paisa Spanish." I hope that free trial download is virus-free.

"Paisa" is what the Colombians living in and around Medellin and the coffee region of Antioquia call themselves. The paisas are proud and consider themselves "the heart" of Colombia... sort of like Texans. Culturally, the paisas are a distinct group from the rest of Colombia... and to a degree, there is a racial difference as well. So, paisa Spanish is a unique dialect of Spanish that is spoken rapidly, with much slang, and many truncated words. But ask any paisa, and they will tell you that they speak the purest form of Spanish. Many CRT members are well-versed in Paisa Spanish already.

If you go to Medellin I recommend you take the free walking tour (Real Walking Tour of Medellin). They give you a good quick history of Paisas and where they came from in Spain. They, like Texans, feel they're different and better than the rest of Colombia. They certainly have a lot to be proud of given the remarkable transformation of the city in the last two decades. Like Texan, they're friendly and great people.
