Just wanted to pass on my experiences using tmobile a free international roaming plan Last sept In San Jose airport I responded to a couple texts and emails and was charged over 80$... I switched over to tmobile from att in May and have been around Central America and to manila since. In every country the phone connect thru a local carrier (Movistar, globe etc) and you get a text telling you that you are roaming and are not being charged for data or texts. You still pay for calls or you cna use skype or Viber etc... It's not the fastest speeds, so no extensive streaming you tube etc, but simple email, gps, web browsing, Viber, whats app, tango etc is flawless. Pros No contract As little as 50$ a month for unlim calls and text, 1gb data in the US Free international text and data No changing SIM card Can text home or work easily Chicas ccan find you easier... And Can keep in touch with chicas thru Viber, whats app, etc on one account. Great for getting alerts on your flight status No need for unlocked phone for other countries No more outrageous roaming charges Cons Tmobile service is bad in some areas in the US No free or subsidized phone Data bottlenecks in foreign cities that have a lot of users, think rush hour in manila where everyone in traffic is on their phone Chicas can find you easier So far it's been a win win for me... In San Jose I don't even bother putting In a local sim anymore.. |

I'm surprised they don't market it more aggresively to frequent international travellers. I've been using this since they came out with the new plans earlier this year. It's awesome to not have to worry about getting socked with a $100 dollar charge just because you forgot to turn off roaming on your US phone. More importantly, you can stay in touch WITH your US number. You can send / receive texts (included) and calls (at a modest per minute charge) to your US contacts and they have no idea you are overseas. mh |

I went to Rio in May.In the cab ride from airport to Copa.I turn on my phone. It said welcome to Brasil and pick a local carrier. Then in Copa it picked another carrier. I text to local numbers and back home to the USA.Also connected to Wifi in apartment. The phone ran 3G while walking around Copa. I used the Magic Jack free app to call home on wifi. No problems. Total charge on my phone bill was 6 cent international tax. |

It,s great but just don,t answer your phone when it rings-voice is not free, very expensive.I did the mistake of answering a call in Medellin-5 minutes costs like$10 |
