i want 2 take my 3 daughters ages 14..16..18.so they can c the good clean parts of the country.can any1 help me in finding a resort all inclusive with things 2 do with the K*ds near the beach..thx.. |

I really think if you could get a condo in Manuel Antonio you would have more for that age to do--all inclusive gets boring and a lot of older people and European tourists--I took 1 all inclusive trip and will never do it again |

For a family trip to a beautiful beach with lot of adventure activities for the teens, I would highly recommend Manuel Antonio/Quepos as a great place to go OR several places in the Guanacaste area like the Hilton Papagayo resort. http://www.hiltonpapagayoresort.com/en/home.html If the beach isn't that important, I think an even better option is Arenal. Either has most of the adventure activities that teenagers would love. There are pools at every hotel and the hot springs are a treat not to mention the abundant wildlife. A great link to see everything available in Arenal is www.arenal.net . If you don't want them to see the seedier side of Costa Rica, stay away from San Jose, Jaco and almost anywhere on the Atlantic Coast outside Tortuguero which is another spot you might consider although it is hard to get to. |

Steve makes good points. All inclusives really haven't caught on in CR. Here's a partial list. http://www.vacationscostarica.com/hotels/all-inclusive/ Also add RIU, near but not close to Coco, and Barcelo's Playa Tambor, both of these are kind of in the middle of nowhere; and like he said the Hilton Papagayo, not sure about this one other then $$$. All of course have websites. I stayed at Tambor 10-12 years ago. Very,very nice, good value, but constant flat crummy surf, boring as hell, the howler monkeys started at 4-5am like clock work, and loaded with Euro's lined up for the food thing an hour before the bell. A recent poster said there was now more adventure stuff to do in the area. I'm sure they can all line up activities for the K*ds but distance would be my issue. How far are they going to travel to get to the fun? I'd favor a condo in ManAntonio also. No all inclusives but a world class beach, lots of adventure stuff to do close by, "healthy" environment, and last but not least, there's a regional hospital there right next to a regional airport, a too often under-looked feature when you're going to be doing the adventure stuff. |

Sea turtle nesting is no small thing and this hotel has seemingly run rough-shod over laws and processes designed to protect them. If the reporter has been fair in his report, wow! If so, don't you wonder how this can happen? There was no appeal process available to the environmentalist's to challenge the Canton's orders granting the concessions to maritime property in an environmentally critical maritime zone other then to wait until it got to their Supreme Court, Sala IV and only now, a few years after this monster sized hotel was built and has opened? Maybe there are posters who understand the court system of CR that can explain the delay. Thank you Steve for pointing this out. It will be interesting to see how Sala IV rules. Nothing would surprise me. The govt just agreed to pay a Brazilian contractor $35 million dollars not to build a road. |
