In Costa Rica, it is rude to tell you No. It's polite to say yes, and then blow you off. Accountability is not important, but appearances are very important.

Also, it is rude to tell you that you are wrong when you present a belief. It's far nicer to just let you go on believing whatever, and then talk about how foolish or flawed your idea may be after you leave.

My advice would be to approach often, exchange cell phone numbers and get used to text messages in Spanish. If they like you, then they will be willing to spend a little time and a few colones on texting you. Most of the time the message will be short and flattering. Test messages are the best way to reactivate cold contacts.

If you Spanish ability is nil or you think of a smart phone as anything less than an appendage, then you suffer a serious disadvantage in relating to younger women (18-25) from San Jose.

Back in the day, I was throwing my dick at the non pros in CR for several years. I always got laid on the first date. In fact, I think if you don't get laid on the first date, then she just isn't interested in you. My experience has been the girls down here have their legs wide open. The only exception to this rule is my wife. I didn't nail her the first night, because I passed out. The second night - YES. We have now been together for seven years and have three K*ds.

Good job losing the weight. Work on your dance moves. Your Spanish might be decent, but I'd be willing to bet that you still sound like a whopping gringo. Work on your accent, verb tenses and vocabulary. The first is probably the hardest to figure out.

Less risky now that all of the chicas have cell fones so you can re-confirm before you head out. But in days gone by I got burned a couple of times. Makes you want to strangle 'em.

Sometimes I think you have a better chance of seeing Jesus than this actually happening, then OTOH I think its common to see girls who "like" some of their customers, just not to the level some of the customers like them. Regardless, as a general rule, they are not serious relationship material for so many reasons expounded upon ad nausium in threads and posts on CRT.

Congrats on losing the weight and learning to dance. You did not mention if you can speak spanish somewhat fluently. If you are able to speak spanish you should have no problems if you get out of the gulch. Hit some of the malls and if you are not shy you will have no problem with the non pros. Los Flores Mall over by Heredia, Terramall in Tres Rios, And there is another one just before you get into Cartago. If you do not feel like going too far from the gulch Mall San Pedro is also a great place to go. You will even see girls from the Rey working normal jobs. If you do run into some of the working girls just remember to keep things cool and do not mention you saw them at any of the evening establishments.

I think once you resign yourself to ONLY P4P you are giving up in general..... I know guys don't care if a ho finds them attractive if they are paying for it.
